| Quote (werdnaforever) How about a version with very low resolution textures? ...why would you advocate for a version with very low resolution textures when we already have textures that are nice? If you want low res textures, you can do that yourself with the existing ones: delete the high level tiles, or for the single image ones just downres them. Not sure why you'd want to, but even so it would not require a special release.

I guess he said about new release - include in it the textures with even lower resolution than that in 0.96, to save on file size.

It would still make more sense to release a no-texture version alongside the regular version than to release a low texture version though.

| Quote (vosk_010858) I hope, Solar System textures should be work with procedural textures with real (Solar System) height (bumpmap) data and SpaceEngine size will more small than previous versions.
Heightmaps are still textures.

Salvo, if you read what I wrote, you'll see that I can obviously download SE, it just takes hours. When I upload maps like that, it can take nearly a full day sometimes, which is why I hate doing it. I don't want to have to wait for hours to download the next version of SE when it comes out, because I'll be too excited and the anticipation would kill me.

| vosk_010858, there really aren't any bugs/lags associated with the disk textures that I'm aware of, and they don't take up any more memory than procedural textures (in fact they take up less because of the texture compression option). And if you generate the textures from heightmap then the world will not look as it really does, which is wrong for SpaceEngine. So your "problems" do not exist, and your "solutions" will just make more problems.
