| Quote Oatmeal_Spigeon ( ) How about adding support for custom music playlists? This is easy to do.
You just need to put on the music folder, in the oggformat; Audacity supports export in ogg format.

| Quote Voekoevaka ( ) Audacity supports export in ogg format. The nice thing with Audacity is you can drag an entire bunch of mp3 files into the program interface window, wait for raw conversion, then simply use the "file/Export Multiple" option to save all in another format, ogg in this case.
Edit:
This reminds me a thing. If you want to add a particular music when you are let's say in interstellar space, right now you need to manually add the file name in the appropriate string in (spaceenginedir)/music/context.cfg, or you can simply disable the contextual music option in the program.
I wonder if wouldn't be simpler (or not terribly complicated, thinking of you SpaceEngineer ) using some sort of tag reading mechanism, so if you add a specific tag in a ogg file or a group of files e.g. a tag with fieldname Class and data "Galaxy", then they could be played accordingly, as it is now. I think this could ease the music context manageability.

| Does a "NoBifurcate" parameter or option exist for individual catalog stars? If not, I think it might be a good idea, if one wants to create fictional systems, but still have "StarProcBifurcation" turned on.

| Quote FastFourierTransform ( ) What about adding the optical distortion effects of atmospheres? For example like in this painting, where the light rays of the ring system got bended because of the density gradient of the atmosphere:
A real image of the same thing.

I, too, would love to see this. My guess is it would require ray-tracing and be computationally expensive like black holes and warp shaders.

Wow. just incredible! :'(
And I just found another example. Also with Saturn:

| Would it be possible to add dynamic coloring for atmospheres based on their composition, and add a graph to show how much of each substance is in a planet's atmosphere?
Also, why do planets orbiting large, blue main-sequence stars, or small red dwarfs or brown dwarfs have either a horrifying blue tinge or red tinge? Would it be possible to add an option to turn that off?

This is due to white balance, or rather the lack of it.
The human eye readily adapts to changes in the spectrum of light illuminating a scene, trying to achieve a white balanced image. But a camera sensor may or may not do this automatically. If you take a photograph of a scene lit by direct sunlight (sunlight is about 5500K "color temperature") with the camera set to daylight white balance, then you'll get a nice, natural-looking image. If you use the same setting for a scene illuminated by incandescent light (~3000K), you'll notice it is significantly redder. Similarly, a shaded scene is much bluer.
This is exactly what SE's rendering system is doing. It is what you would see through a camera with a static white balance set to something like our Sun's color temperature. So planets orbiting different spectral classes of stars will be appear tinged accordingly. If something like "auto white-balance" is ever implemented in SE then this effect will be reduced and perhaps look more natural.

| Quote Watsisname ( ) It is what you would see through a camera with a static white balance set to something like our Sun's color temperature. In SE, white is white, meaning that the only light that will look truly white is light from something like an F4 star, which has a blackbody spectrum yielding an RGB color value of roughly 1 1 1. If you look, you'll see that planets/objects lit by Sol are somewhat redder than they should be. A white balance feature or change in how these things are rendered would be a nice addition.

| It would be nice to be able to measure distances from one selected point to another on almost any scale. Like the distance from one end of a crater to another.

Would this basically be an imitation of sorts of the human eye then?

| It would be great if it were possible to limit SpaceEngine to only the known universe i.e. no procedurally generated content - only the "known" universe. Surely that would be easy enough? Just a button that switches between known and procedural? I personally find it much more enthralling to explore the actual universe, not the simulated part.

There is a button to turn off procedural systems in the shown objects menu.
