| Quote SpaceEngineer ( ) Yes this is what I want to implement eventually (online downloading of textures aka Google Earth or Outerra). But this is obviously not easy system. I love Outerra, works great on the DK1 and now the DK2. If you can invest the $15 version for full version it's worth it to fly the Jet around in the rift.

| Quote Fireinthehole ( ) But is it really realistic that the clouds are lit? I do believe the reflection upwards is so small that you could never see it with the unaided eye.
well, yes they lit. Specially on populated areas. It's like a yelowish glow. Don't confuse it with the blue lights (this are lightnings):

| Quote Fireinthehole ( ) I do believe the reflection upwards is so small that you could never see it with the unaided eye. You absolutely can. Go look at pictures taken from space, or from planes. I've flown over clouded cities before, and you can see light coming through the clouds. Only extremely thick clouds would block the light.

| I'm not sure if the vote is still going, but i'd prefer to have a small download over a giant download with beautiful resolutions, pretty much because i spend most of my time out of the milky way, and new downloaders could get despondent if the file they have to download is giant...
(also, make those beautiful resolutions a downloadable)

| What is that greenish-glow that appears is on the atmosphere of night-side pics of the ISS? I've seen them so often but I never quite understood what they are. I thought that would be a good thing to implement it, since I see it so much on pics like FastFourierTransform's.

| I would prefer a small download size but with optional high res textures.

| Maybe 8 or 16k as default with 128k as an optional add-on for sure.
It would be great if 128k resolution were available with the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Enceladus, Vesta, Ceres (after Dawn visit), Titan (if enough information was gathered), Venus and any other world that was mapped in such detail.

Only Earth and Moon have such detail now. Probably Mars too, but I have only 64k maps for it.

| That is indeed a beautiful picture.
A question came to my mind though: will mountain / crater shadows be rendered or casted by light source?

| You've gotta love the new stellar coronae. The giants are now especially imposing.
