I found SpaceEngine through a YouTube video demonstration on a video game forum.

Apart from several jaw drops watching those introduction videos my first session was (in 0.94 I believe) followed by several more jaw dropping moments. biggrin

Infinty: quest for earth, was following that game for 2? maybe 3 years ( can't quite remember) and got fed up, and found a link on the I:QFE forums.

The first few days were me struggling with the controls, but I prevailed, and now I only struggle with the controls a little bit! biggrin

I had recently found Celestia, and was looking for a good spaceflight simulator. I came across Space Engine on the Celestia Wikipedia page and was astounded by the screenshots. I scrambled to download and play it (only took about 2 hours to download biggrin ). When I fired it up, I was immediately enthralled with it, going around the universe for a couple of hours. I haven't touched Celestia since.

I found it in Facepunch Studios forum when SpaceEngine was recently updated to version 0.90. I was looking for similar games to Infinity: The Quest for Earth. My brain exploded when I left the solar system and I start travelling the galaxy at high speeds.

Good times. biggrin

^Wow, those clouds look really nice.

I occasionally stream at http://www.twitch.tv/magistermystax. Sometimes SE, sometimes other games.

Yeah earlier versions of SE did have some interesting clouds smile But they only really looked good under certain circumstances; overall the current system is superior.

1 Mbps

Well, at least I'm not the only one with a slow Internet here! smile

And can you run it?

Despite my abysmal Internet connection. I have a pretty decent computer. SE is one of the few games I have that I can't run on full specs (although most of the games I have are form 2007 and earlier.)

My first session was confusing, until I figured out how to change speed, go to objects and land on them. Then it was addicting.

It took me 20 minutes to download spaceengine, is that about the average?
