Yeah, he mentioned yesterday about a button or key to align the camera with the horizon.

This is not big, just a half hour of work.

I'm working on supporting multiple textures per ship model, correct loading of OBJ format with material library support, and fixing bugs with normal ships mapping.

Also, I'll probably add support for loading ships/stations/buildings in the MAP format, and the ability to place them on the surface of a planet (buildings) or on a fixed orbit (stations). And some GUI where you can choose an option to spawn/destroy an object.

For ships, I'm also working on mouse controls and some useful keys like "prograde", "retrograde", "warp to", etc.

Auroras seem interesting. Hey, will we see them on gas giants? They have immense magnetic fields and its certainly something I'd like to see. Like this image of Jupiter

apologies, not sure how to scale down images.

Why do you think I've made auroras for terrestrial planets and haven't made them for gas giants?

Salvo Yes, but I ask about auroras for gas giants.

SpaceEngineer Auroras for terrestrial planets have, but you need make auroras for gas giants, because Hati says: "Hey, will we see them on gas giants? They have immense magnetic fields and its certainly something I'd like to see. Like this image of Jupiter".

No, I can't. I'm sorry.

vosk_01, you don't have a choice. You will be patient. The program will be released when it is released, which should be in a matter of weeks. You will wait until then because there is no other option for you. If you persist in being rude about it, you may lose your privilege of posting on the forum.

Yes, I want 0.97 so bad. But I know the meaning of the word "patience", and so I don't use a rude tone to demand its release...
I just sit and wait until SpaceEngineer thinks 0.97 is ready. Like the rest of us around here. biggrin

Friends, I have some stars and planets to visit even in the current version - billions and billions of it. So no need to rush.

senile

Hello, I am new to the forum and I just wanted to say how excited I am about the new update. Just when I thought the current version was already pretty freaking amazing! =D

Anyways I was just wondering about how clouds would be rendered with the addition of 3D clouds in gas giants, or will gas giant clouds not be worked on for a while?

There probably won't be 3D clouds in gas giants ever. By that I mean until computers are powerful enough to render thousands of volumetric clouds of different sizes/shapes/colors or millions/billions of sprites without choking down to unplayable frame rates.

Doubt we will see anything like that in any games for at least another 5 years.

I figured that would be the case, though I was thinking that we would have to keep the clouds mostly static for now anyways for obvious performance issues if were to even attempt to do something like that. Also I was mostly thinking of just some thick dark clouds that you would see if you tried to go inside the gas giant cloud layer. I don't think we would have to do all of that rendering if it only rendered clouds that were close to you while you were inside them. Then you could have it transition to the standard image of the planet as you left it.

I don't know, its just some thoughts I had. ^^;
