Please post here all of your reports about bugs or crashes in SpaceEngine. Before you post any bugs, please follow these steps:

  • First of all, make sure you updated your video card drivers. This may solve 99% of all isues.
  • Read the Fixing common issues section below. It is possible that your problem can be solved there.
  • Read the List of known issues section below and make sure that your bugs are not on in it. You can use your browser's word finder to help search the list.
  • If the bug is not on the list then please post it in this thread. Attach to your message a screenshot (if possible) and a log file (it's called the se.log and is located in the SpaceEngine/system/ directory). Only the log file will help us to understand your problem and find a solution!

    Fixing videocard-specific issues

If you do not know which videocard do you have, open the system/se.log file in the text editor and read the Vendor information in the beginning:

    INITIALIZING OPENGL
    [MT] Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.

Then look for a solution for you:

    Nvidia: Major lag spikes

Nvidia: Water missing on terras, clouds are below the surface

ATI/AMD: Crash on approaching to the black hole, neutron star or white dwarf, on using ship's hyperdrive, or when enabling the Oculus Rift mode or the Fish Eye mode

ATI/AMD: Crash on Startup on Windows 10

Intel HD: Glitchy landscape and textures on planets

Intel HD: Red clouds on Earth

    Fixing common issues

    1) Obsolete or incompatible drivers

    2) Weak system

    3) System with hybrid graphics (NVidia/ATI + Intel HD)

    4) Artifacts on procedural planets

    5) Frequent crashing while generating planetary surface

    6) Spaceship disappears when far from a star

    7) Blurry textures on Solar system planets

    8) Problems with very high resolution displays

    9) Problems in Windows 10 + AMD/ATI

    List of known issues

Green items have been fixed for the next release

Not real bugs, but effects caused by limitations in the engine:

IskanderTD, according to your log, it looks like you don't have write permissions for the location you installed SpaceEngine to. Try running as administrator, or moving the folder to a different location (NOT Program Files).

Just installed the 8th patch for 0.9.7.4. The black holes and such work fine, my only problem is the shaders for
planets, moons, and stars are broken.

    Link: http://imgur.com/a/DsDuD

Specs: AMD Athlon II X4 640 Processor: 3.00 GHZ.
    6.00 GB of RAM(5.75 usable)
    OpenGL: 3.3
Graphic card/driver: ATI Radeon HD 4200, Total Memory; 2943 MB. Dedicated Video Memory: 256 MB
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium(64 bit)

    Log file: https://docs.google.com/documen....dit

I installed version 0.9.7.4 to my desktop. All I have to fix now are the planet, moon, and star shaders. My 0.9.7.2 version had this problem too: http://imgur.com/wSzUqQx

Keep in mind, these specs could play 0.9.7.1 with ZERO problems other than lag which could be managed.
Should I revert the driver back to the 14.4 version?

Or is there another way this could be solved?

SpaceEngine requires 512 MB at a MINIMUM. It's amazing it even works at all with so little VRAM, never mind all the problems with AMD drivers.

So you're suggesting I get a better machine(driver)? Until such time, what can I do to fix the shader problem and enhance
    performance?

It may not be a shader problem. Anyway, you can try deleting your cache folder and experimenting with different driver versions. But when you run a program on hardware that falls below the minimum requirements set out by its developer, you should never hold expectations of it working well. I can't guarantee that you'll be able to fix the issues you're having.

Thanks for your response JackDole, I reinstalled it without knowing that file could've been the cause, but everything is working on Patch 8 now after reinstalling it. If it happens again I'll see if that works.

Hi guys, i have a serious problem. ever since the patch 8 release, every time i'm near a black hole, white dwarf, neutron star, with or without accretion disks, my game fps drops to 3-2. ANYTHING with gravitational lensing or an accretion disk lags my game to death cry . I need help! in the past updates, black holes, etc have never lagged my game before... any help suggestions?

EnumSystemLocalesEx wasn't fund in KERNEL32.dll library.
Previously, it was InitializeCriticalSectionEx, now it's EnumSystemLocalesEx.
I kinda know coding - when you fix one thing, 10 more errors are made.

    Hi guys!

I have an Optoma 3D dlp active link projector and a GTX 960 card. When I run SE in 3D (active shutter) the left/right is not stable. The 3D will work fine for a moment but then the left/right goes out of sync. When I click the left/right option it fixes it for a few seconds but then it goes out of sync again and I have to untick the left/right option again. This process keeps going on and on and means the 3D is never stable. Any ideas?

    Thanks a lot!

Konsider, what does SE said when you check shutter 3d mode? If it said what this mode is not supported, this mean it can't find needed functions in the driver. This is because you have NVidia. They disabled regular shutter 3d support to promote their proprietary 3D Vision system. I don't know how to bypass this problem in OpenGL. Are other games work on your system? If so, do they use OpenGL or DirectX? On ATI, everything works good for me.
