Please post here all of your reports about bugs or crashes in SpaceEngine. Before you post any bugs, please follow these steps:

  • First of all, make sure you make a clean install of SpaceEngine and update your video card drivers. This may solve 99% of all isues.
  • Read the Fixing common issues section below. It is possible that your problem can be solved there.
  • Read the List of known issues section below and make sure that your bugs are not on in it. You can use your browser's word finder to help search the list.
  • If the bug is not on the list then please post it in this thread. Attach to your message a screenshot (if possible) and a log file (it's called the se.log and is located in the SpaceEngine/system/ directory). Only the log file will help us to understand your problem and find a solution!

    Fixing videocard-specific issues

If you do not know which videocard do you have, open the system/se.log file in the text editor and read the Vendor information in the beginning:

    INITIALIZING OPENGL
    [MT] Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.

Then look for a solution for you:

    Nvidia: Major lag spikes

ATI/AMD: Transparent or invisible planets, no landscape

ATI/AMD: Crash on approaching to the black hole, neutron star or white dwarf, on using ship's hyperdrive, or when enabling the Oculus Rift mode or the Fish Eye mode

Intel HD: Glitchy landscape and textures on planets

    Intel HD: Crash near planets

Intel HD: Red clouds on Earth

    Fixing common issues

    1) Obsolete or incompatible drivers or strange error message "(NULL) 2.1 (NULL)"

    2) Weak system

    3) System with hybrid graphics (NVidia/ATI + Intel HD)

    4) Artifacts on procedural planets

    5) Frequent crashing while generating planetary surface

    6) Spaceship disappears when far from a star

    7) Blurry textures on Solar system planets

    8) Crash on entering the Display menu

    9) Problems with very high resolution displays

    List of known issues

Green items have been fixed for the next release

Not real bugs, but effects caused by limitations in the engine:

Deleteerror404, yes, I saw your post the first time, there was no reason to repeat it all. Thanks for the log.

You have an AMD graphics card, these have been having a lot of issues lately. Read the OP of this thread, it mentions several ways in which you might be able to make it work better.

RobertJ, I see nothing wrong with your log. The only thing I can suggest is maybe try a different driver version. I suggest installing 335.xx and seeing if that does anything. Remember to delete the SE cache folder before running again if you do this.

    Hello SpaceEngineer, HarbingerDawn, and everyone,

First, I would like to tell that this update is incredible, SpaceEngineer, you did a truly astonishing work on it, congratulations. I'd like to report a really minor graphical issue concerning black holes while using 3D visions (e.g. cross-eye in my screenshot): it's like the black hole "sees" itself on the other screen.

Sorry if the problem is already known or if I broke any rule (I read all I could find, sworn). Thanks again for this amazing simulator, and I wish you the best for the future of SE. smile

When creating a custom galaxy, if I set "emParticleMinBrightEdge" in models>galaxies>Models.cfg to 0, the game will crash. I have observed this in both 0.971 and 0.972.

    Specs: Dell Inspiron 5547 (Laptop); 8 gigabytes of RAM; Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz; Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit; Graphics: Intel® HD Graphics 4400 (That's all there is :( )

Galaxies are weird multicolored lines, and stars arent the normal white or yellow dots, instead they're different shades of blue. Not sure if this is know or not, because I cant see it in the known issues list.

From your logs, it seems that you have an Intel graphics chip on your laptop also, and SE is trying to run on it. You need to force it to run on the AMD chip (see the OP).

Create a profile for SE there, that would be my guess as to where to start. Beyond that, I can't help, you'll have to Google it. Search for something about how to force AMD or ATI on dual graphics system.

Visiting Ida proved to be a very interesting experience, especially since it happens to be orbited by the hottest asteroid in the Universe. Just under a half of a billion degrees. It makes the Dactyl facing side of Ida extremely blindingly white.

Tidal heating should take into account parent objects gravity and presence of an atmosphere, so while worlds like Io would occur they wouldn't be 800 degrees orbiting a Frozen gas giant. It's interesting to find warm worlds so far away from the parent system, even in distantly orbiting planets orbiting binary stars where the non-tidally heated cousins are 20 Kelvin in temperature. However, it's unrealistic.

A thick atmosphere would make a warm and cozy world orbiting at a distance equivalent to Pluto more believable, but there are objects with thin or no atmospheres with similar temperatures. I've even seen Scorched objects orbiting Frozen planets.

The thinner the atmosphere the less heat the body as a whole can absorb. Tidal heating would produce the heat from within, leading to volcanism on the surface, if there was a thick atmosphere the heat expelled from within would be trapped, but if it were thin, even as "thin" as Earth's atmosphere, the warming effect wouldn't be that much at all. If Io had an Earth-like atmosphere, it would still be cold.

System's age would also be a factor. Scorched planets even by themselves would be possible in the outermost reaches of a system if it were only a few million years old.

Tidal heating needs tweaking but so far this trip into space has been fantastic!

My Mistake. Here is the log and my original statement repeated "I meet all the Recommended settings for running space engine, but every time I click on the planetarium it gives me a message that Space engine has stopped working almost immediately. I have no idea what is going wrong here, and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times."

Try disable texture mipmaping by set MipmapsMode to 0 in the main.cfg

This is a bug, I already fixed it.
