It would be cooler if you could add some more scenery, or maybe make it more than a bunch of bars,

I totally agree, it's a little sparse as is. I wanted to add more to it (like some clouds, a shooting star, or some hills), but after three weeks I felt it was time to move onto another project. However, I learned a *ton* about Blender in the making of it. Right now I'm trying to learn Unreal Development Kit 3.

I strongly recommend against UDK... it's very restrictive if you want to make anything that's not a first person game, and Epic takes a massive slice of any profits you make from it (50% I think).

I very much prefer Unity... so much easier to use, and VASTLY more flexible.

Speaking of -100 logic, I forgot to change the title card for the video and only noticed after it was uploaded.

Here's a map I made for the forum game Amauvala 2 (Rise of Civilizations). It is made for hand. This version is a sixth the size of the full version. I would like to create a more satellite-like map of the planet.

I'd say a good starting point for turning it into a photorealistic map is finding some high resolution imagery of earth, and splicing it together to match your new landmasses as closely as possible.

Sadly, I find that idea as attractive as trying to create a supermodel from parts of corpses. Besides, the huge desert on the eastern continent do not even have any colouration you can find on Earth.

If you did do it with Earth imagery you could simply recolor it to fit the color on your map.

Yeah, if you've got any skill with image editing software like Photoshop or GIMP or whatever, then just use satellite imagery of the Earth, or build your own textures by manipulating/splicing high resolution photos of various textures -- there's plenty of websites that offer these for free. The rest is simply color management (you'll want to reduce the color saturation to make that photo-realistic look), which is comparatively easy.

I have tried photoshop and GIMP but they are pretty hard to work with, so I prefer to do all visual stuff in paint, though I know paint is a shite programme :P

Wednesday, I started to work on Saigo No Hoshi (a "remake" for a 2D game that I made lot of time ago), I decided to use Unity (I was freaking out trying to make open gl work), and it's going pretty well!
In some days I created:

  • A script for controlling characters and footsteps sounds
  • A script for camera (collisions took me an entire day)
  • A script to work with animations
  • A script to make doors open

All with JavaScript, now I have to make AI, a script for cutscenes and one for dialogues, plus I need to find a good 3d modeler because the charachter's model is so bad, and it's just momentary wacko

The universe is not required to be in perfect harmony with human ambition.

CPU: Intel Core i7 4770 GPU: ASUS Radeon R9 270 RAM: 8 GBs

(still don't know why everyone is doing this...)

portal 2 mod

Portal 2 is a great game but...

Things I dislike about Portal 2:

1. The elevators have no acceleration. They just start and stop- it makes no sense! By the end of the game Chell really should have severe brain damage (if you haven't played P2 you won't understand). This is especially weird since it appears the elevators use some kind of air/suction system, and I would imagine the ride would be much smoother.

2.

3. Glados's voice just isn't the same anymore. I know that at the end of P1
, but it still sounds different then that. I think they were lazier in this regard (and with the elevators).

4. The elevators- oh, I said that...

5.

6.

That's all I can think of now.

So I make fractal imagery sometimes; it's been sort of an off-and on hobby of mine for a while. Here's one I made for a friend earlier tonight:

Any other Apophysis users on this forum? smile

I just saw Cypher (from 2002)- amazing movie.

Don't click the spoiler until after you've seen the film since it's entirely plot driven. See it first!
