Mine are:
"Aliens",
"2001: Space odyssey"
and "Iron Sky" (Which is probably the most unrealistic sci-fi movie ever.)

Edit: also Contact

My favorite science fiction movies include:

Contact - my all-time favorite by an order of magnitude
The Matrix movies - yes even the second and third, though they're obviously an afterthought
Forbidden Planet
Avatar
The Fifth Element
Primer - Have you seen this amazing zero-budget SF film? It goes from WTF to OMG about halfway through.
Brainstorm
Equilibrium
Fantastic Voyage - I know it's cheesy, but it still fills me with wonder
They Live
Aliens
Gattaca
Terminator 1 and 2
The Abyss
2001
The Cell - I count this as SF, a hybrid of Fantastic Voyage and Silence of the Lambs.

Watch it

I've been a die hard Star Wars fan for my entire life, I've seen every movie so many times that I can't even watch them anymore, I'm more familiar with the Expanded Universe than probably anyone you'll ever meet, fully half of all the books that I've ever read have been Star Wars, I can quote you any line from any of the films. Star Wars is pretty much my favorite thing ever.

So when I say that Star Wars is not sci-fi, it is not out of ignorance. Star Wars is commonly misidentified as sci-fi; it is in fact fantasy, just space fantasy as opposed to medieval fantasy like Lord of the Rings, etc.

On an unrelated note, another space movie that isn't sci-fi but is one of my favorite movies of all time is Apollo 13. Such an amazing movie. Also, very rare to find a non-documentary space film that isn't sci-fi or fantasy!

I admit that it could have been a lot better but i enjoyed it very much. You just have to know that it was never meant to be taken seriously and it was designed to be a comedy from the start. What dissappointed me was the amount of cool stuff they had to cut for budget reasons (They had 7000000€). They meant to explain the nazi technology (which was the original focus of the movie) a lot more than they did in the final release and the story suffered because of this (They changed the focus of the story to political satire which wasn't that great). The reason it still made it on my list was the great actors and Laibach's music. Also i have followed the movies development for 6 years so i know the directors vision pretty well.

Btw how is it propaganda for the "NWO"?

All films about Mars (Total Recall, Mission to Mars, Red planet, etc)
BBC Space Odyssey: Voyage To The Planets (well, it is a mockumentary movie, but still awesome)
Back to the Future
Independence Day
Avatar (the best movie that shows in detail the ecosystem of an alien planet)
The Fifth Element
Star Gate (1994 movie)
Star Gate SG1 and Star Gate Atlantis
Babylon 5
Star Wars

..and I hope some day David Fincher will finish the movie Rendezvous with Rama, because it is my favourite Arthur C. Clarke novell.

Me too biggrin
I have watched the movies since i was a kid and loved them all. I have read some of the comics and the wiki. I have never read any books because i heard that they are pretty silly biggrin . I'll have to take a look at them someday.

Btw what is your opinion on the prequels? I used to love them when i was yonger but now i don't like them as much as the original trilogy.

The movie itself shows many things (for example the alien invasion from the nazis) i cant explain it here it has been created another thread for that in Off Topic anyway if you search for yourself you will find out that it really is ;p
