| Quote Salvo ( ) In my opinion it's too much unrealistic
Given that are projected to be 40 billion earth like planets in the habitable zone (in our galaxy alone), I reckon there's definitely room for alien life in there.
Maybe you could have it as a different game mode for those who still want the lifeless realism? e.g.
In the main menu you could have two options ...
- Planetarium (realism mode?) - Planetarium with life (living universe mode?)
Quote Salvo ( ) we can not know how alien species are, neither how much they're common or anything else.
We could pretty much take what we know about how life evolved on Earth and extrapolate that to other environments (e.g. a creature living in water will most likely be slender and have fins, creatures in high gravity environments would have greater muscle bulk ect...)
As for how common microbial life is vs complex multi-cellular vs sapient life that'd probably need a bit of educated guessing.
[edit]
Plus, we already have life in the game, it's just not really represented or manifested in any way apart from one or two lines of text

It's almost sad but at the same time, again, funny.

I like the idea of having 2 different game modes 1 for people who believe the Universe is a dark place and humans are the only ones out there and one for players who actualy think we are just one living planet among many and some with life similar to humans.
And to add to the last part, most likely for an alien race to develop as humans have done it would almost have to be humanoid in appearance. At Least when it comes to the arms/hands to be able to create not to mention it has to have a decent eyesight. Without being able to see out from your planet why would the alien race want to leave? They dont know what is out there. An alien race that is thecnologicaly advanced would ahve to have all these fetures and possibly some other qualities like us. I guess they also have to be currius. But from my experience there is alot of different animals on earth that ar currius so I would say that is quite common. The reall question is not does the universe have life but how much life does it have.

| I actually have something that exists: 1SWASP J140747.93-394542.6 Here are some links:
Seriously, have fun modelling that in game.
Also, are you guys going to add procedurally generated moons to exoplanets that we've discovered?

Pretty sure that's already in the game.
Living among the stars, I find my way. I grow in strength through knowledge of the space I occupy, until I become the ruler of my own interstellar empire of sorts. Though The world was made for the day, I was made for the night, and thus, the universe itself is within my destiny.

| as you may remember last year and early this year I was talking about BPG and animated BPG formats
well, it seems there is now better format on the block, with GPLv3 license FLIF Free Lossless Image Format http://flif.info/
example : http://flif.info/example.php
of course it's quite early format but damn promising in many aspects
---
I think I repeat myself but I would like to see for
Galaxies: Star/Stellar Streams https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_stellar_streams
Star systems: Bow shock caused by Astro-sphere/Helio-sphere in areas of space where density of material / gas is higher than usual yes, technically sorta like comet but with whole star system 'bubble'
Clouds? {yes the ones in space}
as our Sun is currently traveling through the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_Interstellar_Cloud that's a denser region in the low-density https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_Bubble one day it enters G-cloud https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G-Cloud
Ideas are like ocean w/o borders! https://twitter.com/FoltynD

...or press hold mouse left and right button at the same time. That's not the same. The first method changes the 'Field of view', the second changes the distance.
Don't forget to look here.
