SpaceEngine needs a button to orient the spacecraft so it faces either the nearest star, brightest star, or barycenter of the system. That way, you can align the shield of your spacecraft so it isn't always heating up as you drift through a system or orbit around a planet. The actual heating up isn't simulated yet but being able to do this adds a nice touch of realism.

Also, I'm thinking about the film Sunshine. Of course, I'm always thinking about that movie, but I'm thinking about it more right now.

Would it be possible to get a model of the ICARUS the ship from the film sunshine into the game?

The reason I mention that film is because of the many, many problems that are caused when their shield is misaligned.

That's a discussion for a different thread entirely.

Look at this BlackHole
Waiting for this effect in the SE

I always knew the wormhole was leading to another wormhole that was near to Gargantua, the black hole, since the crew of the Ranger/Endurance spaceship didn't plan to free fall into the black hole.

Other than that, cool software smile

PS: Sorry for being off-topic, just figured I quoted a post I may have seen before, didn't know there was a link though.

Good to hear you're working on the crashes. Great job with the program! I hope you will continue for many years to come.
(You did say you plan to continue working on this forever, yes? Sorry if I misunderstood.

New features and revision of existing features for the search engine filter :

- Sun and moon count : choice should be made between two values instead of one specific value (so you can search for planets having between 2 and 5 moons, for example)
- "Tidally locked" becomes a "Yes/No/Doesn't matter" choice ; same for rings.
- Search galaxy by type and size
- Search nebulas by type and size
- Checkbox : "Star is in current FOV"

Functionality already exists. Check box is 3 state. "Check" for yes, "X" for no and blank for "doesn't matter"

^ This. I agree. I like to "hop" much like the "Jumpship" of MechWarrior, about 30 LY at a time, but would like to do so within my FOV.

Also, I know we are not in the online game development era yet, but I'd like to see this in the to-do list :

- Spaceship checkpoint race !

Wait, I don't have the option to check or X for rings and tidally locked. I have version 0.9.7.2

I'm not sure how to do that, seeing as it's a patch, not a full update...I'll search for it though.

Alek, You simply put the Content of the Download of the Patch into your Space Engine 0.9.7.2 Folder and replace the Files. If you want to keep your Locations, make a Backup from your current SE Folder.
