although I don't know how to make the colorized version of the dust

Dust shouldn't be colorized, alpha channel is grayscale, not color.

I'm talking about the alpha channel example (as an example of what I mean) that Solaris posted here. Speaking of greyscale, maybe I'll try making the the ones that Solaris gave me, greyscale, and see what happens.

Edit: Making those two images greyscale broke the galaxy even more (only the core is visible), Now i'm more confused.....

Edit2: I re-added the alpha textures and it's fine now, wierd. O.o Must have done something wrong the second time, but just what, I have no clue.

^ I still need to see that movie!

I guess this is a hello as well- I've been lurking around here for ~15 days.
I stumbled across this AMAZING piece of software from a random suggestion in Yahoo! Answers. (someone had asked about good space simulators)
This beats the hell out of Celestia, and, well. Really every other universe simulator out there.
SUPREME KUDOS to Mr. Valdimir. smile

Oh, and thank you dontpanic for the awesome Eve ship models!

---> Which brought to mind engine exhaust graphics. I think it'd be cool to see some physics-enabled engine flares on those sweet models :P Or is that even realistic?
Anyhow. Perhaps SpaceEngineer will add these naturally to the game with time.

A ship model wouldn't constitute as a spoiler... welcome to the forums!

physics-enabled engine flares

I'm not sure what you are even talking about... lens flares? Engine exhaust flames that wave around (not realistic)? SE has lens flares for stars. I would guess lens flares for ships would be just as possible.

That's what I meant. My bad tongue

I think they're quite nice at the moment. Haven't had the itch to install the Mass Effect style yet!

I was thinking of this a long time ago. since we have the capability of adding our own systems, I was thinking of adding the planets featured in the Homeword series of game. Any suggestions?

ZackG, I have already started working on a Homeworld addon a while ago, but the incorrect orientation of M 51 in 0.96 (and my being too lazy to figure out how to overcome that) put it on hold. Hopefully in 0.97 that will be fixed. I have worked on the Kharak and Hiigara systems so far. I also plan to add the Great Nebula.

Also, I'm merging this with the Addon Development thread, which is where it should be.

Wow, the Homeworld galaxy is M 51? I should note that SE does not directly support placing stars in other galaxies, their particles may jump on screen when you try to approach them. However, inside the planetary system there should be no round errors.

Is it possible to add custom models as planets or stars, or just as random things floating around?

Say if I waned to add a ringworld or something?
