Bambusman, you making very ineffective textures. This is side image of "ring halo" nebula. Why using 512*512 texture, if data is only in the middle? 128*512 would be enough. Also, 512 seems too much for nebulas, their level of detail is far from this value anyway. And, there are plenty of model generation methods apart from "CubeMap": "Flat", "Cylindrical", "Spherical". You should try all of them, for some nebulas they might be better. And "SpiralGalaxy" can be used for nebulas as well.

Also, it seems you don't use absorption sprites. Why? In that case, using png textures with empty (black) alpha channel is overkill, use RGB jpegs to save disk space.

SpaceEngineer, i will resize all my nebulas to 128 x 128 in the next update or should i do it now? Because i'm still not in my vacation because my plans just drowned (for now).

i don't get good results with the other ones only "Spherical" i use that for nebulas like the owl nebula. but i didnt test "flat".

RGB jpegs

i have problems using jpegs because the alpha channel is empty white then. and the nebulas lose the way they look and let my computer explode biggrin

SpaceEngineer, i resized all the nebulas to 128 x 128 now the pak file is instead 16mb, 1.8mb big.

and please don't add the new carina nebula in the game.

tell me if there is anything else that needs to be done.

rosette.png and wizard.png are still 512*512.
Nebula model is a sprites created from 3D array with resolution of (64 * emDetailR) x (64 * emDetailR) x (64 * emDetailR) voxels, and the same for dust sprites (absDeatilR). For some methods, emDetailZ/absDetailZ is used in Z coordinate. So if you have emDetailR/emDetailZ etc no larger than 2.0, texture of 128*128 is enough.

Why? This resolution is excessive anyway.

Why?

because i would need to work on them more than on the other ones. i'm lazy :D
but i did they are attached.
also i forgot to mention that the butterfly nebulas name is changed to twin jet nebula.

steeljaw354, once you created the a catalog file for your nebula change
this code:
Code
Galaxy  "Milky Way"

to:
Code
Galaxy  "put the name of your galaxie here"

then go to your galaxie search for a procedural nebula then click on this nebula and press i and give it any name you want. go to earth and once you are at earth search for the nebula you renamed and open the edit mode now copy the "ra" the "dec" and the "dist" of the nebula and paste them in your catalog for your nebula. btw idk if you can put your nebulas in all galaxies.

the first one is the rosette and the other one is the wizard nebula.
