| ^Haha, that's awesome. A weak brown dwarf next to something bright produces that kind of view, but I've never seen it quite such a high contrast.
Quote (Talisman) I think I read something about super giants having their luminosity turned down in 0.96 so the typical way of finding them might not work any more, might be a lot harder now. cool
I remember that too, but I think it was about catalog stars, as many of the supergiants appeared too bright in Earth's skies because they don't have their self-made nebulae dimming them. T Cephei was the worst offender, being brighter than Sirius in Earth's skies. Though seeing as really big stars are much harder to find now, I guess you may be right.
I think we should start a new thread for this for 0.96, since the universe has changed now and it's odd to have 0.95 stars compete against 0.96 ones.

I don't know... We could figure out a system, maybe current version stars should get priority somehow over old version stars. (11 AU star from 0.95 would be 2nd place under a 10 AU 0.96 star?) I think having one big standing thread for all the giant stars throughout all the versions would be cool.

Well done, congratulations on finding the first large 0.96 star. I have updated the list, also in the future please use the form I posted on the first page, It's a pain having to enter in the info from your screenshot.

| Well, I think if you really want to keep it in one thread, at least the 0.95 stars should be archived as a seperate list (in a spoiler tag maybe, or at least clearly marked), and a new competition started for 0.96. Otherwise the 0.96 stars will be up against the 0.95 stars, which are playing by different procedural rules.

| Also, I've found one for the new list, if there is going to be one: It's called RS 0-0-0-34-9067-0-0-0 B and is 10.331 AU large, and in close orbit around a much brighter blue giant.
[Xsize=12]10.331 AU, M1 0 - apenpaap - (2nd if we do a seperate list for 0.96)[/Xsize] [Xcolor=yellow]RS 0-0-0-34-9067-0-0-0 B (0.96.1)[/Xcolor]
EDIT: And another one!
[Xsize=12]10.651 AU, M5 II - apenpaap - (2nd if we do a seperate list for 0.96, 6th if we don't)[/Xsize] [Xcolor=yellow]RS 0-0-0-523-12233-0-0-0 B (0.96.1)[/Xcolor]
Also, what's with these holes right through the middle of red giants? If they didn't creep me out, I'd try to fly through them.

| Wow! That's incredible, and of course well done.
I'm in the process of doing a huge overhaul on the list.
I'm adding a new rule: You can only have one star on the list per user, to discourage star bombing with tons of huge stars and claiming all the spots, of course you can submit multiple stars but I will only accept the biggest one, if you find one bigger in the future post it and your other entry will be replaced by it.

I think this is a good idea, at least for the main list. There should be a secondary list though that documents all the very large stars found, regardless of who found it, so that we can avoid the following:
Joe - 10.91 AU Beth - 10.84 AU Jane - 10.83 AU Bob - 10.77 AU
Then Beth finds a 10.89 AU star and so her entry is replaced. But her 10.84 AU star is still one of the biggest ever found, and so it should not be deleted, but kept in a separate list somewhere in a spoiler button or something, kind of like you have now.
All forum users, please read this! My SE mods and addons Phenom II X6 1090T 3.2 GHz, 16 GB DDR3 RAM, GTX 970 3584 MB VRAM

Yeah, I thought about that just before reading this post haha, I added a secondary part to the new rule, where someone else can't steal someone else's star. Also I'll keep the other ones in the spoiler.

By the way, check out the system it's in. Dual giants, although only one gets on the list, but the other is still pretty huge.

| Good job, and please use the form on the first page. Like I already said earlier, it's a pain to manually enter the RS code, type of star, size, etc from your image each time.
