| 10.600AU , M5 II - Rodrigo - (Third Largest) RS 10629-113-0-0-0
For some reason It wont let me edit my OP, must be some kind of bug. I'll update the main list shortly.

| Talisman, users can edit their topic first post only within a one day or one week. This is a strange restriction with the UCOZ web engine. Just ask me or Robbie and we can update your first post for you. In future, use the tick method: create a first post with some description, and the second with the challenge table or something else that you want to edit in the future.

Could you go in and post me the full code of the main post, so I can format it and add in Rodrigo's new candidate for the list?

| Amwhere has been awarded his reputation point for having found the extremely long standing "largest" star in space engine, I bet there are larger stars out there, good luck and keep looking.

Well done! That's quite far away, it's so large the model glitches when I tried to get screenshots from the closest gas giant. I've updated the list, in 3 days if it's still the top star you can choose a custom name for it.

| I share here the way i used to find this star, and two other 10.7 stars : RS 10284-47-0-0-0 (10.700 AU) and RS 3762-2716-0-0-0 (10.703 AU)
1) Select a galaxie, press F4 to open the "show objects" windows, here untick "galaxies" , "clusters", "nebulae", "planets", you should now see only a black screen.
2) Press Ctrl F4 to open the "graphics" windows, here tick "points" in "stars style" if its not , and push the "stars scale to the maximum. still black screen , its normal.
3) Final step, press F7 to open the "magnitude/brightness settings" and in "objects apparent magnitude limit" push the stars and stop increasing when the first stars appear, should be 12 or more , depend how far off the galaxie you are. you also can play with exposure setting. this way the stars you can mostly see the huge stars of the galaxie ( 7au, 8au, 9au,10au..), and quickly scan many galaxies.
Do not forget to reset the magnitude to 7 when you have finish !
Can a star be bigger than 11 AU ?

That sounds like a good method, I like how there are many different ways to try and find these giant stars, I just go to the galaxy and line it up and tweak the magnitude setting only until I see a couple of stars. Or another way is finding a random star in the galaxy and then making the last three digits in the RS code zero (0), notice how almost every single one of the stars on the list have 3 zeros on the end, perhaps the luminosity algorithm makes the brightest stars in the galaxy 0-0-0. But some times the 0-0-0 stars of a galaxy aren't the biggest. And I'm not sure if perhaps there are larger stars then that but they are extremely dim? I asked Space Engineer and he said 25 AU stars should be possible (Because it is in real life) but they might be very rare in the engine, or not generated at all.

| Quote (Talisman) I like how there are many different ways to try and find these giant stars me too , your way look quick and effective. I have tried several config before the one i've posted and so far , it's the one who made me find three 10.7AU Quote (Talisman) And I'm not sure if perhaps there are larger stars then that but they are extremely dim I think there is 10.999 AU star somewhere.. Quote (Talisman) I asked Space Engineer and he said 25 AU stars should be possible yes, i read your old post about that , thats what made me search in the first place this all remind me this popular cool video about the size of stars : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEheh1BH34Q

| By the way, did you found a stellar black holes? I found few as a satellites of such giant stars, most brightest in the galaxy. It seems some bug in star generation code, so it don't generate black holes and neutron stars satellites for a lower luminosity stars.

| Stellar black holes? I didn't know they were in SE yet.
I occasionally stream at http://www.twitch.tv/magistermystax. Sometimes SE, sometimes other games.
