| Quote (werdnaforever) I think it's the perfect name But how does that name reflect the game's concept of exploration and discovery? Unisim would make sense for a future SE Universe Sandbox-style physics sim, but I don't see how it fits the SE game. This is why I suggested Uncharted Worlds, since it better highlights that theme.
EDIT: Something with "Pioneer" in the name or something similar could be good.
Also, I totally forgot that I created this thread, I thought SpaceEngineer made it

| Quote (werdnaforever) as it describes what Space Engine is
It may describe what SE is now, but it does not describe what SE is going to be in the future: A game with some kind of scenario/plot and gameplay characteristics. I agree with Harbinger Dawn's comment above: The name of the game must reflect the aspect of exploration and discovery together with the aspect of the procedural generation of a practically infinite universe. That's what I tried to do above but unfortunately it's too long .

Very nice picture! But I don't understand if the name is "Immensity of space" or "No frontiers"
The universe is not required to be in perfect harmony with human ambition.

(still don't know why everyone is doing this...)

| Immensity of Space is pretty long and pretty vague, and doesn't describe the point of the game.
No Frontiers doesn't evoke the right feel; something like "Boundless Frontier" would work well, so SpaceEngine: Boundless Frontier could be a decent name for the game.

| Just jotting down my thought process...
Cosmos... Cosmic... Astral... Voyage... Journey...
Astral (an adjective)... turn it into a non-adjective by taking off the "l"?
"Astra" (does it sound catchy or does it sound un-obvious or over-thought?)
Astra: Cosmic Voyage (?)
or
Cosmos: The Journey (?)
perhaps "Cosmica"... (nahh... cheesy and over-thought)
Feel free to ride off of any of this stuff if you want, even if it is all rubbish. :P

| "Cosmos" has been purposed earlier. Or even "Kosmos" (on the Russian manner).

| "Voyage", and "Astra" (Astral without the l), combined might make:
Voyastra ("Voy-uh-struh")
Almost sounds like "Orchestra" (thoughts of the phrase "symphony of the universe" come to mind)
Cheesy? probably... but might still be useful for contributing some other inspired ideas for a creative, yet descriptive name.

| How about 'DRIFT' but with a back to front R, as per the Russian alphabet.

Voyastra: Symphony of the universe sounds really cool.
How about this for a name:
Finite but Boundless
If I recall, SE is going to be a finite but bounded sorry, typo, I meant boundless universe. The fundamental domain of the universe is essentially a cube (what we have now, except no tiling).

| Quote (werdnaforever) If I recall, SE is going to be a finite but bounded universe. No, he wants to have no boundaries. You can travel seamlessly from any point to any point, by way of any part of the universe, without crossing any boundaries. Everything is looped back on itself in the fourth dimension. Finite but unbounded. You'll probably find his exact description if you do a quick search.

| Quote (HarbingerDawn) Everything is looped back on itself in the fourth dimension. Finite but unbounded. Sounds like the description of a hypersphere, or more specifically a 3-sphere. According to Wikipedia a 3-sphere is nicknamed "glome" (< Latin "glomus", "glomeris"). I haven't heard that before. Most will probably think of yarn rather than an abstract mathematical concept, though, so 3-sphere/hypersphere sounds better.
Looks like there already are companies called 3Sphere and Tri-Sphere, and there is a RPG called Tri-Sphere. I found many online games called Hyper Sphere. So for something unique with this name it needs to be coupled with something. I don't think translations works well. An "overball" in English", "superglobus" in Latin.
A hypersphere is of course not the only possible geometry capable of being looped in a fourth dimension.
