So... with universal coordinates for ships, can we travel trough multiple stellar systems now?

You can do that even in 0.971

Quote Vilfate ()
And how about catalog comets with parabola orbits... Are they rendered now as well?

No. Comet are completely different thing. You forgot that comets, unlike ships, are procedurlaly generated, so there may be trillions of them in a single galaxy. How to compute motion of all these comets? Obviously, you can't decite if comet is visible or not to render it, until you compute it's coordinates.

I've found another there bugs:

First,if we edit the radius of red gaints, they would looked very strange......Well I don't it looks bad because it's details make it look more blazing and realistic. smile sad
Then,

Can you see that strange line? If you can't see it clearly, you can see this image that I have marked with the red line and compare with the previous one:

now you see, the bug on displaying the sky area caused a "Sky line".......... cry

I think there have been more things to be improved for the stars at present ( simply with current SE shaders), while some of which are actually new issues since 972.
//Because it's all about catalog stuff, some might be so minor that no one has ever reported.

More images are to be updated later [right here] cry
(my poor home laptop supports only until 0.972 due to its ATi 3400 Mobility with 255Mb VRAM,// I still run a dual monitor with it for school work wacko )

`"Zirconium stars, carbon stars, etc. (Catalog "R_","S_","C_","N_" spectral types) are actually variations of Red Giants, while they are rendered as spherical as a "huge red dwarf star", especailly on Mira A, where this... plus gravity darkening, makes a hamburger like this...

editi found a past post about such stars in the image dump thread

What the heck are zirconium stars?

`Wolf-Rayet stars, e.g., r136a1, is presented rather ...strange and is like a giant egg due to the surrealistic big sunspots under low exposure levels.

this is image from 972 while i've confirmed that it still looks like that in 974 so far

Sounds like it really lacks the gradient effect..... wacko

Fantastic patch, seems like the performance has improved quite a bit with this one and those ship updates are even better.

Would it be possible, maybe even as an optional cvar, to enable the ship engines effect instead of thrusters while using UFO mode?

HIP 45296 6.1 seems to be doing something weird. smile

I am getting some strange atmospheric artifacts in this version now. I am on an integrated graphics card by the way.

Wow! So much more than was expected! Absolutely amazing work, Vladimir.

I've found one issue so far - the galaxy sprites for NGC 494 (and probably other galaxies) go crazy occasionally.

More images here.

Not sure if this is my card or what. The ship's textures loaded properly once I flew it out of that galaxy. Next time it happens, I'll grab the log file, I got excited by all the new features and forgot to this time.

Though it's strange but why my Oceanias still have bugs? wacko

Yaaay, interstellar ships~!
Next it'd be nice if when one builds a new ship, the new ship spawns with the same world-space velocity as the camera, so that when I "launch a shuttle" by building one next to my mothership, it doesn't immediately whoosh away at 12 km/s xD

That looks like the new hyperjump animation! biggrin

For some reason, the last couple times I loaded a ship and went to travel interstellar, after I hit a certain warp speed, the velocity vector shows the ship turning and spinning in random directions almost like its hitting a wall at the edge of a star system. But if I spawn it outside of it, it still does it, until I get past another certain warp speed before it finally keeps its course. Not sure why. No video available yet to show, unless someone else experiences this and can record it.
