While messing with the shader myself

Lucky

It looks like this is related to the gravitational lensing effects around black holes and neutron stars.

Wait, wasn't the whole idea that the ships perform millions of instantaneous jumps per second, meaning that there's no actual distortion of space, or was this put aside for a warping theory?

This effect is used now, just for eye-candy. Proper hyper-physics is not implemented yet.

What might the eventual implementation of actual hyperspace effects look like? biggrin Although, I suspect this is jumping out of range of this thread. <-- See what I did, there? wink Really, though, what kinds of things would be taken into account?

I don't remember where I read it but wasn't the new plan to have some sort of small effect that would make space ripple/warp but only the observers outside the ship would see it?

LMAO!!! Oh my, Billy_Mayes, I know you did not just post a HUGE picture of Spongebob! Now that I've stopped laughing enough to breathe... So, the effects of hyperspace being visible only to people inside the vessel is innteresting. So outside observers wouldn't notice the ship, of course. But, the effect from third person would still be visible... because you're flying the ship...? Or might it just be, hyperdrive, pow, jump, you've arrived at your destination?

New landform - something looks like rivers. I call them pseudo rivers. Of course this is not real rivers, ie they not flow from highland to the sea, they have no inflows, etc. River nets sometimes look strange - like blood vessels, and even can make circular bayous. To have 3D water, their surface must be on a sea level, so they really look good only near shores. So I simply limit their generation on highland. However they sometimes create nice looking valleys in mountain rages.

Cool.

And next you could combine this with terracing and get rift valleys.

They let me use this!

These remind me minecraft rivers : no current, at sea level, and can make loops.
