My opengl refuses to update, despite my every method including updating the GPU drivers. However by skipping the critical checks, I cant go anywhere further than the main menu, then it crashes. This is what I got from my log... (Included in link)

Im not sure what to say, but I cannot play, with OR without OpenGL. Im feeling like this game is more of a waste of critical space at this point unless a fix can be given. Please help me... I just added music to test the ingame music system... I wanna play this so bad cry

Dumbrarere, your graphics hardware does not support the minimum required OpenGL version (and probably wouldn't be capable of running the program even if it did). Your computer cannot run SE. Sorry.

I know it is. That is not capable of running SE.

Hey guys.

I'm having problems with exporting skyboxes. Each time I try to do that, I get a crash.

This is the only place where I get crashes, I can export other things (planet textures etc) properly. I also do not encounter crashes in regular exploration.

Attaching my dxdiag and log. Oh and I'm of course running 0.97.

ingmar20, you need to extract it into a new folder. Do not install over an old version of SE.

When I travel through a galaxy at (or above) 229pc/sec - 200kpc/sec I crash. It's not exact though. If the star density isn't that high, then I may not crash. But typically, I crash. Sometimes pressing the "g"key will cause this crash because it will speed me to the object at or above said speed. If I go through the galaxy very fast >200kpc/sec then I don't crash. I can also cause the crash moving outside of galaxies (meaning moving around with galaxies flying past me). And I can also cause it by pressing "g" to go to a far away galaxy because it will move pretty fast. In this case, it's usually around the 150Mpc/sec range. My guess is it's a problem with loading and or generating both stars and galaxies when moving at those ranges. (Also, he may be requesting to access memory outside of his memory space. i.e. he may be requesting data that isn't there or the data that is there is garbage. But I dk).

Any help on fixing this would be much appreciated! Thanks!

My graphics drivers (and hence openGL libraries) are up to date. To be spacific, I'm using openGL 4.3.

Above, you'll see the exception that the OS threw. An access violation, (a C0000005 exception) is the translated #GP code the fault handler raises, which the operating system displays as an 'Access Violation', whos numerical form is c thousand 5. Its the operating system telling you that a program has malfunctioned and tried to reference no mans land. It has nothing specific to do with any particular program, or a brand of software, this is straight from the CPU and kernel of the operating system.

Also, below I've attached my log. If there are any other useful logs that I could attach (that I'm unaware of) please let me know. Thanks again...

Hi first post. Loved SE 0.9.6.2 as I had it working flawlessly.

Alas the same can't be said for the 0.97 update I'm afraid sad

Crashes whenever I fly into any galaxy/nebula.

My system specs :-
Intel i7 3770 Quad Core
GFX Card NVidia GTX570 - Latest drivers.
16 GB DDR3 RAM
OS Windows 7 Professional

My log file after a crash has been attached.

Fiffling with the memory settings got the previous version stable, but no matter if I auto detect, or enter my own values for available RAM the end result is the same. Shame it's still a 32Bit app (???) Many people have oodles of Ram these days that just goes to waste!

Until a patch I'll continue to use the previous version. Good luck.

Yes, but the glitching it provokes annoys the hell out of me, also crashed again after making a movie (F9)

Like I said in my first post, 0.9.6.2 worked perfectly, glitch free, seamless always at 60FPS

I appreciate the program is 'beta', and is awesome, but the previous iteration was better.

Needs 64 bit app, nuff said smile

Yeah, 0.9.6.2 was more stable than this one for me as well. Though landscape loading times are better in this one.

Could you explain the glitching that it provokes? Like, what is it doing? Also, I believe I saw a thread or maybe some posts about crashing while making a movie, maybe check those.

I almost feel as though I was trolled in that SpacialKatana seemed to have almost the exact same problem as me with the exact same computer specs as me and he summarized his issue in far less words than I.

Following Observers advice (attempting part 4 of the first post) solved my problem (in that I don't crash anymore).

Regardless, thanks for advising me. I read the first post in this thread, however, I never thought or realized that step 4 applied to me! Oh well...

Thanks again.

No you weren't trolled , I did have the same problem with the same specs. Our rigs should laugh at this app, as mine did with version 0.9.6.2.

Changing load to 1 (immediate) does help with crashing, but without a SSD frame rate suffers b/c HD is being accessed instead of Ram(much faster cycle).

I've changed the format for screenshot grabs in record mode from .tga to .jpg to see if that prevents crashing after I record a video.

My feeling is that if the app was 64bit and could utilize all available system RAM (in my case 16GB) a lot of the problems would not exist anymore.

I won't hold my breath for it, but I will wait and continue to use 0.9.6.2 for now, which is in its own a right a fantastic piece of software.

Cheers.
