| I've taken my time with photoshop and made a space scene! It took me about 10 hours to make the planet. I've spent most of the time manually creating the huge ocean in the middle and adding the rivers around the ocean. It took me about 45minutes for the background/ring in the first version, and four hours for the background/ring in v2. In v2 I've also added city lights. I've used spaceengine for the stars and to create the lens flare/circles. What do you think of it?

| Generation of rivers and erosion is too complex at this stage of developement, but at least erosion is possible.

| Spaceengineer I think you've misunderstood something. This is a space wallpaper made in photoshop. Or maybe you've just replied to the wrong thread.

| I liked the one in v2 before you added the horizontal flare, but it still looks amazing, nice work.

| Thats sweet work man I imagine that mars will eventually get to the habitable zone from the sun (since the sun will grow into a giant), like earth today is and it becomes full with plant life brought by humans.

| Quote (Kviki) I imagine that mars will eventually get to the habitable zone from the sun
Unfortunately, I'm affraid that the period in which Mars will be in the habbitable zone is very short. The sun will eventually scorch it to cinders Another problem will be the intrinsic instability of the sun when it leaves the main sequence, triggering much more violent solar storms that will shred any atmosphere from Earth and Mars.
If the Human race is still arround to see it and STILL bound to this solar system, then I fear that will be it's demise. The only way to avoid extinction is to reach for the stars

| I almost forgot about this thread This is a piece I just finished, and also my first time attempting anything like this.
It was all done by hand in GIMP, using only standard tools/plugins/filters/brushes etc. Probably 99% of it was done with the paintbrush tool (the stars were each done one at a time in this manner). I have some issues with it, but overall I'm pretty happy. A more in depth description is located here: The deviantART page for this image
The whole time I was making this, the sky reminded me of SpaceEngine
Let me know what you think!

| Quote (Solaris) i wonder how you will paint nebula and galaxie this way and i kinda wanna see it I was thinking that my next piece might be a view of the Milky Way from close above, looking at an oblique angle, maybe with a globular cluster in the foreground. I'm not sure yet, I've been busy with other things recently. But I will try to get at least one artwork done this summer
