| Just checked this thread randomly and woah, DeathCl0ck those planets look amazing! I presume you used 3D modelling software? The planets are simply jawdropping! As if you were there looking out through a spaceship's window. Do you have a DeviantArt profile?
A little submission from me: An alternate Milky Way texture I've been working on for practice. Feel free to use it if you'd like to add it into SE. (I'm just too bad at adding galaxies into spaceengine!)

| Try it again. I fixed something on it, was uploading. Seriously now. Getting annoyed by dropbox either way. Whenever I use it there are problems! I'll upload it on stash now on. So if it still doesn't work, wait for the stash upload, will be there in a minute.
And it's up!

| Hey Kviki , I like your texture ! It's a nice galaxy, maybe a little too much violet but this can be easy fix. Did you tried to do such texture but based on the real shape of the Milky Way ? I've tried but i failed miserably.. I think it's would be a really intesserting Art to do!

| Nope I didn't bother with that. Trying it would only lead to frustration. I simply have no vision what it's supposed to look like based on the dust texture. Though I see no reason why not use the image from wikipedia (unless its copyrighted, of course). Until we actually leave the Milky Way, I doubt we're really going to know/see what it looks like. Until we find out, I'd simply like to use my imagination for the textures.
Edit: here's a less violet version (violet is still present though, still a difference if you compare the old one with this, we don't want it to be colorless, do we? ): http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70....06g.png

| Quote (Kviki) I simply have no vision what it's supposed to look like based on the dust texture. Well i'm quite interrested into some explanation/more details myself, if someone have them.
Quote (Kviki) I doubt we're really going to know/see what it looks like. Until we find out hehe, I wish we could see the first picture ever of the milkyway , like the first time man took a picture of earth

| Here is my newest piece of space stuff. An Earth-like planet somewhere in a galaxy far far away. Took me ~8 hours. Drawing the rivers was quite annoying, but it had to be done! I think it's a certain improvement over the crappy planet used here.
You may want to open it in another tab for the whole resolution: Direct Link

I will have to be quite honest here. The planet does look a bit flat. But those clouds... they look so detailed

Yup. I'm actually going to start with 3D modelling soon so once I get the grasp of it you may see proper 3D planets from me. I didn't use the Spherize filter due to artifacts appearing at the edges, and didn't bother with the 3D feature of cs6 (non-familiar interface, unlike cs5 and back.) + I didn't have a good enough texture for a 3D sphere of this size.

| You will need to produce new textures If you are planning to use any 3D Program, because you will need a texture to cover the sphere and not just what is visible towards the camera.
From experience, I also recomend different textures for land, clouds and specular (to produce the reflections only on the water) Also, a bump map will yield even better results, or a normal map if you're willing to put in the extra effort
Can't wait to see the results, after seeing what you can do with photoshop alone :P
Here is my very first try at making a 3D World back in the day. I didn't even knew how to use bupmap correctly (note the atmosphere is also missing)

| Thanks
Can't take the credits for the ships though (downloaded from turbosquid if I recall)
Textures pulled from some website I can't remember and composition made on Vue D'esprit 5 (I think )
