| Oh no! it's a new evolutionary paradigm: Mars + plastic. What was it that Carlin said about this?

First plastic and robots, then people and cities. If Mars were a conscious entity it would be quite pissed at Earth.

In the way humans have been on Earth I suspect a planet would look at people in the same way we look at lice.

| Heh, I was just watching The Matrix on TV the other night and now I am reminded of this quote: Quote (Agent Smith) I had something of a revelation when I tried to categorize your species and realized that humans aren't really mammals. Mammals, you see, naturally establish an equalibrium with the environment they live in. But not so, with you humans. You move into an area, consume all the natural resources which are there, and then the only way you can sustain yourselves is to move into another area and stripping it until it's dead. There is another creature which exhibits these traits. Do you know what it is? It is a virus! Humanity, is a cancer upon this planet, and we, are the cure.
Also, this.

They've already checked and the shiny particles are native Martian material, so, I wonder what it is? 'shiny' could be almost anything, I initially thought of metal, but minerals can also be shiny or bright.
Also, the Sky Crane is such a litterbug, they've already found some other tiny bits that came off of the skycrane :P

| Apparently the piece of "plastic" is not from Curiosity. This is exiting!
(Source: http://www.iltalehti.fi/ulkomaat/2012101916224638_ul.shtml It's in Finnish, so you can't probably read it.)

(that website is not that reliable on science related news, but they are mostly correct.)

| Quote (Antza2) Apparently they thought that they originated from the rover, but it appears they do not. I don't think that anyone assumed the specks were from the rover. The checked it out as a possibility of course, but I don't recall that being the judgement of the team.
