How did you manage to get the length of 1km to stick? I tried inputting 1000 (I thought it was in meters) and doubled the weight because I wanted my spacecraft to be huge, but it defaulted back to 500 something meters.
I didn't edit the length in the spacecraft.sc. I built this ship with a length of ca. 2 km (till the end of the main-axis) in the editor and set the unit length in the spacecraft file to 1 (default), so Space Engine calculates the length automatically. So there shouldn't be any problem with the length, or did I misunderstand you?
But I don't know, why Space Engine calculates the length of my ship to only 1.7 km.

If you want to use a custom length, remove the parameter "Unit"
Spica, your Vega ship looks amazing, I love it

There are some awesome ships being created here! Speaking of
I only called it the wideshield edition because I originally made it with a much smaller shield, and it sounded cool.
Here are living areas, shuttles, communication equipment- the very front of the ship:
The rest of the ship is mostly covered in radiators, and contains cargo, fuel, engines, and the hyperdrive.
Starting at the front and working our way back, we first encounter the cargo storage areas, which can be accessed through a large tunnel in the center of the ship. This photo is a bit confusing- below we see the cargo area, and above we see the bottom of a docked shuttle. We are just crossing through the skeleton of the ship.
Here is the tunnel for the cargo storage areas. My take on this is that the cargo modules seen here wouldn't be removable- they would be full of compartments/rooms/space for cargo, with doors and access ways. I can't illustrate it here, but ideally there would be a pathway from the living areas to the cargo areas, where there would be a habitable tunnel. I suppose some kind of built in movable crane on a track would be necessary- some kind of system for transferring cargo to and from these storage areas wouldn't be too difficult to design. A door of some kind at the tunnel entrance would also be in order. Don't be fooled- this is a big area. You could fit several shuttles in here!
At the end of the tunnel, we see some fuel tanks further down the ship. From here, it's all fuel tanks until we reach the very end of the ship.
Along the two sides of the ship are loads of communication dishes and photon torpedos (Would you help me preform surgery on one of them? Fascinating... ).
Behind all that is a long open tunnel-like area along the side of the ship. Who knows what you could use it for?
Thank you! The ship is inspired by the "Discovery" from 2001 and also a bit by the "Event Horizon". I wanted to design a ship with a clear structure. The only flaw is, that the hyperdrive couldn't spin in this arrangement, because the structure goes straight through it. But at the moment nobody knows, how the hyperdrive is animated in space engine, so it could also be some sort of coils, that don't spin, so this "construction failure" isn't a big problem. I think a bigger problem is, that the ship would break in reality, if the engines accelerated it, but maybe in the future, there are very strong materials, which would prevent this.
By the way: A seperate "Show your ships-thread" would be good.
