That tends to happen with most movies. I ruined back to the future doing that.

It can and does happen with many movies for sure, though there are some that I am perpetually unaffected by.

But Serenity really degraded more than most. There were too many important things that just weren't the same.

I use these charts and lengths

Those charts are pretty, but not always the most accurate (for example, the JJ Enterprise...). 17.6 km is the accepted value for the Executor-class, not the oft mentioned erroneous values of 8 km and 19 km.

All the info you'll ever need (more than that, really) right here: http://www.theforce.net/swtc/ssd.html#size

Delta Flyer

I spent a long time attempting to do pixel by pixel match up, just like Voyager it wasn't easy and some are slightly misaligned.

However it has both sides on 2 different mappings, at least that is what the UV Map shows, but it really only uses one so half the ship is backwards.

That I can't fix because it is beyond what I can currently do.

This suggestion could seem awkward if implemented since the Delta Flyer was a unique vessel, but you could edit out the identifying marks on the sides to remove the asymmetric appearance.

It looks beautiful smile

Good idea, it seems a bit lacking but its better than mirror images everywhere.

Proof of concept

I may leave it like that.

Here are all the models I have ported/edited, Voyager is the only one not done I may give touching it up another go.

All of these are their appropriate approx size, the TARDIS is a bit larger than it should be but that is to avoid clipping.

Large view

Mid size

Small craft (Serenity is very low poly, still need a new model)

Tiny (TARDIS next to Delta Flyer)

I haven't ported Klingon, Romulan, or any other alien ships because I am not a very big fan of their designs. I will continue porting federation ships though.

Edit:

Defiant, just need to fix the letter texture and maybe adjust the texture colors a bit to fix it's cartoony look

Edit:

Leaving the above images for comparison purposes. Finished the Defiant and edited the textures a bit.

I've made the mistake to go in vacations before finish the galaxy pack I was working on.. Models are not finished, they still need many changes in the scripts..

I'm working on :

Hanny's Voorwerp
CartwheelGalaxy
Cartwheelsatellite1
Cartwheelsatellite2
M77
M83
M106
NGC2442
NGC4911
NGC5257
NGC5258
NGC7674
NGC7674
UGC1810
UGC1813
NGC4622

I plan to make this list longer! Some of them are already in the game but I've remade them anyway, they may look better now.

Also I've modified the script of the Irregular galaxies, I've superposed the em-sprites and abs-sprites ( + a small shift) , this way it make kinda "arm" structure full of stars and create empty spaces between. I'll try to transpose them to nebula models too.

I'll go back to all this In few weeks, for now I've other personal (non SE) projects that I have to work on, and the lazy feeling of september don't help..

For the last week I started watching Deep Space Nine and it grew on me. The Defiant is a cool ship so I wanted it in SE. I am waiting on Destructor to get back to me on a few things, then he is going to touch up the ships I think. So hopefully sometime in the next week or so we can get a release of Star Trek ships out.

Hi guys! I'm back - my internet connection suicided last sunday, and I've barely been online since.

Amywhere: I'm a little unclear on what the parser is doing? I think I get that it's looking at the Space Engine variables for a planet, and extrapolating a history. Will that feed back into Space Engine, for example, re-drawing the planet's textures and terrain mapping every few million years to show geological and biological changes? That would be awesome.

Solaris: That's EXCELLENT! I love to see new variety - especially if it's accurate. All these new images coming out of the Hubble database must be mana from heaven!

Doc: Wow, you're kickin' ships out like nobody's business. I used some of the down time to experiment with different exporting techniques, but nothing I did tackled the triangle glitch satisfactorily.

I'll get on the permissions soon. If you send pm me a list of links to the files you've ported, I can start to hunt down authors. If you want me to take a look at the textures in photoshop and see if I can work the alpha channels properly, I can do that too. They look pretty great the way you have them, though - and I think you had a point about the triangles only showing up when speculars were enabled.

I noticed some minor misaligned textures on Enterprise D and E so I worked on them a bit. No screens yet as I may have to do a bit of texture editing or Destructor can fix from the files I sent him.

I did however Spend a long time working on Voyager and got it mostly aligned, besides a few pixels here and there.

The bad news is Voyager has the worst triangle problem of any ship.

Edit:

Fixed the color of the top ring on the Enterprise E and aligned the textures a bit better. Now has proper color

Remapped the texture on the NX01 nacelles to fix the color mismatch and missing textures.

Its not easy to match the textures up properly, especially when the model has a broken UV map. But over all the models are alright. I already sent some earlier versions to Destructor1701 to check out and fix up.

Just the 3ds models, or do you have a way to convert cmod models as well?
