Alright I finally got it down properly, with the Enterprise E as a test for preserving the alpha channel and using it as the diffmap and then using the specular as the bump.

I didn't even have to remap the model as I just did an overlay by the pixel over my previous work.

I will move on to TOS Enterprise, NX-01, and Enterprise D. I will completely redo Voyager however now that I have improved.

Edit:

Enterprise-D, I did notice a few slightly misaligned textures so I will fix those, other than that it came out mostly fine.

Superb! That's the ticket! smile

It looks like you've figured it out, but to answer your earlier question:
The _glow.tga's from BC are the diffuse maps for SE, except that the alpha channel is used for glow in BC, and specular in SE.

I found out how to convert the Alpha transparency to solid color using Paint.net. I then took those and added a layer on top of my already made texture maps and then gave them transparency to match up the pixels. Then I deleted the old texture, or used it as a bump map because it is still the specular, and turned the transparency to 0. The end results were how the ships should look, also the issue of the triangles is to do with using the specular but I still cannot find a way to fix it.

Edit:

I am still having trouble with Voyager so I hope Destructor1701 can fix it.

However I have finished the NX-01, TOS Enterprise, TNG Enterprise D and E, and added 2 Borg cube variants. Still looking for suggestions on ships to add and hopefully I'll be able to get permission to release the models.

Finished ships

Fixed texture of TOS Enterprise

What about the new, redesigned alternate universe Enterprise? Say what you want about the reboot, but the new 1701 looks great! It would be very cool to see it in SpaceEngine. I must say, the other models look fantastic. Fascinating!

Also, the size of the new Enterprise makes me wonder how large federation ships would get if the new timeline progresses the way the original one did.

Could you import a ship that you created in Spore?

Careful. The PLATT Collective has spurs.

Currently porting the JJ Enterprise and the future Enterprise-F which is a Century class.

Very large. If you have ever played Star Trek Online or looked into future Trek stories some ships are well over 1km.

That would be very difficult.

Edit:

Enterprise-F next to the Enterprise-E

I decided not to do the JJ Enterprise as Space Engine does not support multiple textures and I tested out the base model and it just looks awkward in SE.

Those Star Trek ships look awesome! I'd love to fly them around when you put them up for download.

I occasionally stream at http://www.twitch.tv/magistermystax. Sometimes SE, sometimes other games.

I'd love to release but I need permission for most of the models. I don't have contact info for their original creators besides Wiley but I asked Destructor to contact any he might know.

Also I wish I had a better model but this is the only model I could find that didn't cost money, require registration, or have no texture.

If someone can find me a better model I'd be very happy.

From one of my favorite Sci Fi series

It went off the air way too early, episodes were shown out of order, and the movie I think was one of the best movies of a series I have ever seen.

Sucks it went off the air and never came back.

I figured the model would be fitting for SE, especially if those guys working on the firefly system ever finish. I just wish I had a better model.

Fox screwed up royally on that show, it's such a terrible shame. At least we have the DVD release. But we'll never get to see River's future, Book's past, or any of the other unanswered questions sad

The more I watch Serenity, the less I like it. It just didn't have the same look and feel as the show, everything was just a little too off for me to really love it.

Well thats the case with most movies off of shows, but in those regards I think it was great. Then again I only saw it once and vaguely remember it being pretty good.

Also this is another side project I am working on next to the Star Trek pack, I bet you can't guess what it is or what the ship next to it is. tongue

I had really liked it as well after my first time seeing it as well. It was only after maybe my third time that I started to see its flaws.

I hope you gave it the proper length of 17.6 km wink

That tends to happen with most movies. I ruined back to the future doing that.

I use these charts and lengths
http://www.st-minutiae.com/misc/comparison/comparison_small.png
http://www.st-minutiae.com/misc/comparison/comparison_medium.png
http://www.st-minutiae.com/misc/comparison/comparison_large.png
http://www.st-minutiae.com/misc/comparison/comparison_huge.png

And that its not 17.6, its 19km. cool

Currently attempting to get the DeltaFlyer into SE.
