I noticed that even if I run the program from 2 different folders (like 2 different installation on the same computer) they both seems to share some files.

Everything that SE uses should be in the SE folder, nothing is outside of it. It should be noted of course that any new installation will always start at the same place, and if you copy your SE directory your last location will be saved since that is specified in one of the config files.

Are you sure that you installed SE correctly? (copied the entire contents of the archive to a new folder on your hard drive) Also some people have noted that some problems may arise by installing it into the Program Files (x86) folder vs the Program Files folder on your system drive (I can't comment personally as I don't have SE on my system drive) so maybe you could try moving the installation to different places and see if anything changes.

My SE usually crashes when I visit planetary surfaces. No matter what LOD I have. Sometimes it crashes immidiately, sometimes after a while. Flying around on the surface causes it to crash 100% of the times.

Help please! biggrin

Whoops, embarassing! The first post has my problem, and a solution for it! tomato

Love Space Engine!

Hi Toonen1988, nice to have you.

SE can be pretty quirky with respect to performance near planets, sometimes even for those with good system specs like yourself. I have the same problem as you though perhaps not quite as severe; if I'm at LOD 0 or greater then SE slows to a crawl when I'm near a planet and inevitably crashes within a short time. This is odd because this is on a system with much higher specs than my older computer, which runs SE just fine even at LOD 2. I'm guessing it's something related to the graphics card but I'm afraid I'm not very knowledgeable about this. Hopefully someone else may provide more useful info for you.

How is your performance under situations not near planets; such as flying through dense star clusters, or between galaxies? Also which LOD are you using (I'm guessing -2?), and have you tried adjusting anything with the memorysettings parameters in main.cfg?

I'm having the same problem. I disabled 3D water and decreased the LOD to -2, and now it doesn't crash that frequently. Although it keeps crashing anyway. sad During eclipses it crashes all the time.

Toonen1988, I've moved your post here.
I guess you have already read the OP, but if you haven't, it may help you. Also, can you post your se.log please.

I tried all those fixes, change grahpics settings, change LOD, edit main.cfg and other stuff.

I have an Zalman Trimon 3D screen, and it doenst support higer then 1680x1050 so I changed the main.cfg to 1680x1050 and it seems then I can use Space Engine a little longer then before. It crashes now about 2 a 3 minutes.

This is my se.log
