I looked at the log but it just says:
Space Engine Version 0.9.4.0 beta

STARTING
Loading "config/main.cfg"
Loading "config/universe.cfg"
Opening window
Initializing OpenGL
Vendor: Microsoft Corporation
Renderer: GDI Generic
OpenGL version: 1.1.0
GLSL version: (null)
Loading image "data/textures/common/splash06.jpg"

INITIALIZING ENGINE
Loading shader "data/shaders/hdr_down4.glsl"

What do?

Kinda having an odd problem, whenever I go to start space engine I get a black screen then a message that my graphcis drivers froze and failed. It doesn't happen with any other program. Any help with this would be great. My computer specs are as follows:

AMD Phenom II x6 3.00GHZ
8 gigs ddr3 ram
Radeon 6850 with 11.9 Catalyst drivers (yes I have checked for updates and even downgraded to previous drivers)
Win7 Ultimate

I also checked the SE file in notepad but this seems to be all it says:

Space Engine Version 0.9.4.0 beta

STARTING
Loading "config/main.cfg"
Loading "config/universe.cfg"
Opening window

One of these might help solve your problem.

I checked those out, my problem is I can't even get it to start, no splash screen or anything. Basically I select the exe for the game the whole pc freezes then I get a black screen, after a second everything comes back and I get a message bubble saying my graphics driver crashed, really weird.

This is strange. Have you extracted the downloaded files correctly and written them to a new folder (don't overwrite the old folder). We've had failed extraction before, which has stopped SE from starting properly. You should see this folder structure after extraction is completed:

Also, what's your folder size on your hard-drive, it should be ~415Mb.

Post your 'se.log' file here as an attachment for SpaceEngineer's attention. Also tell us what you PC spec is, and especially what graphics card you use.

Are you launching the 'SpaceEngine.exe' from within its contents folder? it should look like this:

Also, check the SE folder size on your hard-drive, it should be ~415Mb.

Quad Core i7 930 CPU o/c 3.8 GHz - 6GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM - ATI HD 5870 1024Mb - Intel SSD X25-M Gen 2 - Win 7 64-bit

Yes, every time I extracted to a new folder, even to a new directory, it has that same folder structure nothing appears to be missing and it it is 415mb in size. I do have a dual monitor setup, not sure if that would be a problem but I tried unplugging the extra monitor and it has the same problem. Also when I check processes I can see space engine in there.

Alrighty I got it, checked out windows event viewer and found out it was failing on the driver end not the program end so I removed every trace of the display driver and did a clean install the most recent, and it booted right up, thanks to everyone who was helping me.

I suspected it may have been the latest Catalyst driver, but when you'd said you'd done a roll-back, I didn't bother to mention it. It's worth making a note of this here, so others may know in the future. Glad your up-and-running now smile
