| JackDole and I will use this thread to post release ready sun shaders.
These modifications are for v0.9.7.4 patch 8 and have not been tested on other versions
More unrealistic scifi-esque edits will be posted soon.
This first edit is a variation on giant stars that keeps them semi realistic with altered bulge sizes.

| These are my slightly different versions.
This is a version with minimal changes. In each of the two shader files only one line has been somewhat modified. The result looks like this:
This version is slightly different than that of DoctorOfSpace. There are two version, one without freckles and one with freckles. I myself prefer the version without freckles.

| Nice work.
Just a quick question, you find a hypothesis for the surfaces of giant stars or just for aesthetics, since to my knowledge, you can not see closely the surfaces of other stars, just a point or a bright disk.
Continue like this.

Continue like this. Giant stars are brighter, but their brightness is released through much more area, making them look dimmer. I'm not sure if you could see surface features without filtering in some way.

| Quote quarior14 ( ) you find a hypothesis for the surfaces of giant stars or just for aesthetics I do not know. I'm not an astronomer. If it does not look so, or similar, I would find that really a pity.

| Computer simulations incorporating data from spectral, interferometric, astrometric data of bigger/nearest giant stars are suggesting star surfaces similar to what is shown at the moment in a vanilla SE emulation. Convection cells of our little sun, on the other hand, are more tight packed, so I find these mods a very pleasing merge from what we thought could have been their appearance few years ago and what we think is today. Could be not realistic but sure is a nice effect. It was discussed before in forums, I'll check because is very interesting. That's exciting, isn't it?

| I'm liking Jack's minimally-altered non-freckled version best, it looks the most realistic based on the articles I've read about how giant stars are thought to actually look and adds in just enough swirly noise to make it visually interesting as well. Well done!

| Quote parameciumkid ( ) Any way I can get that configuration? There is no special configuration.
All you need is the proper shader for it. In this case, which are in SunShader_V0.3.zip.
The star in the pictures is NML Cygni.
