| Question, are planets with ESI's >1 possible? (like, is it at least possible to make it say that, know what I mean?) I swear I remember seeing a thread where someone found a planet with an ESI of >1

| Quote meegja ( ) Here on the latest Nvidia driver now: 368.25 - WHQL. Bad thing: this too has the bug that cloud textures on planets disappear when you come closer. But good thing: this driver is for the Geforce GTX 1080 Founders Edition which I now own (so the driver is not intended for other GTX cards AFAIN) Normally I buy hardware when it is around 1 year on the market just because it is cheaper then. But now I made an exception and what a beast of a card it is! In games and some 3D applications I use it makes a HUGE difference. In SE 0.9.7.4 it doesn't make a huge difference though. Loading Speed is cranked up, textures are forming and showing much faster. Oh, and no micro stutter/pause any more, even with Threaded Optimization set to Auto in the Nvidia Control Panel.
Really ??? please take pictures/screenshots of it. the GTX1080 just hit the market in my city today and I want to see what it can really do!

| Ostarisk, I don't think so, since ESI stands for 'Earth Similarity Index', and in SE not even the Earth has an ESI = 1 (a planet with a ESI higher than 1 would mean that it is more similar to Earth than Earth). However, if we were talking about a planet with caracteristics to allow life, and we give Earth an index of 1, there my be some planets with an index higher than 1.

| Quote kham132 ( ) Far away Browns Dwarfs are seen through planets.
In the picture.. Are those city lights? Volcanic lights? What are those lights on the dark side of the planet?

| therealprincebowserkoopaj, No I think it is lights from the internal heat of the planet as brown dwarfs generate their own heat

| Are the planetary textures in the download section still usable with the current build of 0.9.7.4? I just did a before and after with Saturn and Jupiter and they looked exactly the same. Don't get me wrong they looked great but I didn't notice a difference. I noticed the texture folder is now a subfolder of "data" instead of being in the root as before. Would this make a difference?

| You can only change the look of planets in the editor for surfaces or if you change surface textures in the .sc files

| I don't know if already reported but there's some problems with the latest update nvidia... RC2 shaders don't work properly. RC1 instead seems to work well... With RC2 I also noticed a decrease of fps.

Quote Stab74 ( ) Are the planetary textures in the download section still usable with the current build of 0.9.7.4? Yes, install them as listed on the download page, just keep in mind what "textures" folder are now inside "data". Also, unpack SolarSys.sc from catalog file and double check paths to the textures - some of them was changed. Edit SolarSys.sc and save it.

| Last update with Nvidia showed this problem. Using an older driver seemed to solve the problem.

| I see only one problem with the latest drivers so far - these broken volcano. You may disable them in terra shaders, they are bad looking anyway.
