It is safe to say that with this trailer it means that we could get the new update in time for Christmas! when he got near the lava in I could of sworn it was moving! or it was in the last video! I wonder if there will be seasonal changes, stellar and planetary evolution, and collisions?

Oh maybe I used the wrong expression but I meant that the 0.9.7.2 isn't released yet.

No, "yet to come" is a perfectly valid expression in English smile

Quote RockoRocks ()
Does this mean we can expect a release of 0.9.7.2 soon?

Well, you can expect whatever you want... a video release like this just means that it's close enough to done to show off. It doesn't mean that release is necessarily imminent.

Outstanding trailer! biggrin

I've been particularly hoping for some updated ship controls.

In the new features list it says

- Updated ship control panel (retro engines slider, etc)

I'm not exactly sure what that means or what it includes as far as how it has been updated.

Can we get any further info on that? smile

It means that retro engines are implemented now, in addition to main and hover which were already there. As far as control goes, some bugs with key and axis assignments have been fixed, and of course there's joystick support now. No other changes that I know of.

Great trailer! Does this trailer indicate that the release is near, given that space engineer distributed a test version to someone else (not sure if SE Solaris is spacenegineer's account or not)?

And I also noticed a cooler lava world was in that trailer (it looked more cooled down that the lava world shown earlier).

During late stage development of the program it moves into closed testing where certain users are given access to the program to help report bugs and issues, update localizations, catalog files, and other things.

There is a list on the main page of the site http://en.spaceengine.org/index/0-3

This is not an indication that a release is near.

Oh please, please upload a 1080p version of this trailer. I can't get access to the dropbox site.

I see. Either way, at least I now know in my head that the lava planets do indeed have different temperatures.

Makes me wonder if there's a frozen vulcan/lava world.

*Not used to the quote system here; I hit quote and no quote shows up, but this is off-topic.

You have to select the text you want to quote. Also, make sure to hit the quote button on that post, or else it will attribute the quote to a different post, even though the text will be copied correctly.

My guess it would be release in 2015 then.

And him saying that it's not an indication that release is near is itself not an indication that release is not near. The point is don't bother trying to discern a release date from all of this, because it doesn't work that way.

You can't know the release date before it happens. That's the rule. If you have done some coding, you know you can't know that. Some day you write XXXX lines of code, some times you remove entire features because of a small detail which will, actually, force you to rewrite thousands lines of code.
Or, you can have a floating, unknown bug which will take days or weeks to hunt, and finally, resolve. (And resolving this bug will sometimes reveal new things).

Of course, the release will be before 31th of december 2015. But, well, you can't be SURE.

Thanks!

Anyhow, since you're among the beta testers, have you by any chance encountered any frozen lava worlds or the like?
