We never had it as its own class or anything, it was just taught in pretty basic form as part of the curriculum. What the planets are, the major moons, stuff like that. Nothing very technical.
Also, it was definitely earlier than 5th grade now that I think of it.

| All the schools I went to squeezed in the planet stuff during Earth science courses and every mention of other planets was in passing when talking about specific rock types. Kind of sad really.

- The planets of solar system
- Earth and Moon motion
- Kepler laws

I feel lucky because my mom didn't even know that earth is round... seriously, I'm not joking D:

| This is actually bothering, if I tell my schoolmates I'm convinced in the existence of other civilizations, they think I'm some kind of idiot who read too much science-fiction, while half of them believe the world was shaped by some miraculous divine whom they have no other explanation for than, he has no beginning and no end.
The Koran or the bible can only come from God, because no man can create such a masterpiece, so sure, an invisible imaginary thing told us to write a book and created the universe, because that's the only possibility that makes sense.
Edit: Also, he created an almost infinite number of worlds and gave us only access to one because he got bored and decided to piss us off.

Wow, sounds like they've never actually read the Bible, it's a pretty poor read. This argument does have the appeal of making Middle-Earth real and J.R.R. Tolkien a god, though.

| Yeah, the first five pages are already full of contradictions, but they state that this is due to the difficulty of translating some things and because it's sometimes metaphorical. It basically means they deny to accept the lie they believe in.

| Well to be fair the bible (old testament anyway) Is the collection of stories of a civilization that existed in the Classical era, and a lot of fundementalist (creationist) Christians are brainwashed since birth, so they can't really choose to believe it....
Concerning the education in the US, you have to remember that there are 2 extremes, and the private schools are very good for those that can afford them (according to american friends of mine anyway)
