I disagree. I think that kids need to learn stuff from their parents when they are that young. It's just how their mind works. I'm not going to go into huge detail here, but i have studied psychology at school and written essays about this subject.
Child needs to be mostly with it's parents for the majority of early childhood. If the bond between child and parents becomes warped in some way, or if the parents don't spend enough time with the child, this could lead into various mental issues. Child's mind needs a stable environment, where to grow. Unfortunately this is becoming more rare in our modern environment, which shows in the younger generations. They try to grow up too fast, which again can lead to various mental issues.
5 is an acceptable age to send your kid to school, but 2 is absolutely too young. Kids need to grow up on their own pace.

Often parents send their kids off to such places precisely so that they can be away from them and do their own thing, even if that thing is just going to work.
Good parenting does not abound in the world, and that goes doubly for the United States.

I agree with you on that. I meant in general for learning. I started reading around 2 and learning about paleontology and evolution by that age. Although not so in depth, didn't really start appreciating it and understanding it until around 5 or 6. I just loved dinosaurs.

I learned to read when i went to school at the age of 7. Before that my parents had read many books to me. Space and dinosaurs were the best thing ever back then. I used to have a big book about dinosaurs and i had memorized a huge number of their names. And like i have said before, i had learned the names of the planets in our solar system by the time i went to school, because my dad had taught them to me.

Not a joke, my first word wasn't even mom or dad. I only know most of this from family videos and first hand experiences from my parents. Can't remember much of anything from that time besides a few faint memories. I do remember being one of the only kids who could read in kindergarten, first grade, and even into second grade. I also scored really well in English because of that, at least in terms of comprehension.

| These books played a great role in my education, I've read them many times when I was in school.
"Encyclopedia for kids", third edition, 1971-1978 (in 90-s I had all of these books in our libruary)
1. Earth
2. World of celestial bodies. Numbers and figures.
3. Matter and energy.
4. Plants and animals.
5. Mechanisms and production.
6. Agriculture
7. Human being
8. From the history of human society
9. Our Soviet homeland.
10. Foreign countries.
11. Language and literature.
12. Art(not on the picture).
The second, third and fifth books were my favorite.
In the epoch before the Internet, it was the best source of knowledge, even though some of that information could be outdated for 20-30 years. I also think it is necessary for young kids to have an education, mostly disconnected from too tendentious, modern and uncertain ideas of present, as they could disorient them and deprive from morality and a sense of proportion.

| I remember knowing the alphabet by heart at age three and being able to read slowly. So 2 is probably possible if you watch a lot of sesame street. XD It's probably one of the things that got me interested in numbers and letters. That and my grandmother, who would draw numbers and letters in the forest floor with a stick if we were going for a walk and I was going very slow; those strange marks in the forest floor used to intrigue me to no end.
