It seems to be missing several sounds that are not in English

I only tried to include English sounds, plus zh. To include every major sound made in every language is an effort that is beyond what I care to try. Anyway, the reason I invented the alphabet in the first place was for a fictional universe of mine, where in the future a language that is spoken English but with a completely new writing system is the universal language of humanity (other languages still exist of course, but everyone can speak the universal language). So I only needed to represent English sounds, plus zh which seemed to me to be a very common one outside of English, and thus would be needed for spelling names and such. Most other sounds that might be needed could probably be created or approximated through the appropriate use of diacritical marks (I intend for a fully developed system of diacritics to be used, but I have not started to create it yet).

*zh does not really exist in English that I know of, but many other languages do have that sound so it needs to be represented

Are you talking about the second sound in the name Jack - [d zh a k]? Russian has a letter for this sound - ж. It is very hard to transliterate many Russian words into English due to lack of this (and some other) sounds in English. For example, Russian name "Женя" is pronounced like "Zhenja" (try google translate to listen to how it sounds). In this short word there are two letters that have their own sound in Russian and does not have it in English - "zh" usually used after "d' (Jack) or so, and soft "a" is completely not used.

Just for the curious:

BTW, these discussion may make important sense for SE - transliterating names of planets. We should choose a good transliteration system to be able to show names of planets given by Russian players to English players, names given by Dutch players to Polish players, etc. Harb, maybe your alphabet can help us? Let's invent a human race language for SpaceEngine! Let it be based on English, but use a universal alphabet that will have all the needed sounds. So words written with this alphabet can be easily pronounced by players of any nation. Or SpaceEngine can convert the names of planets from any language to SE language and back again - this may solve the problem with names. And of course this alphabet would be ideal - without multiple sounds per letter, double and voiceless letters etc, and have some nice graphical representation. Do you like this idea?

I use both, since I love science (and having a system that makes sense) but live in the USA.

Yet I still have to think in those terms because I live in this country dry And writing the date month/day/year. It makes no sense!

I second this. If you're not from the US, and you live in a metric-centric country, then please understand that this is how Americans feel. It's a painful, terrible feeling, eating me away from the inside like a horrible acidic diseased cancerous feeling ahhhhhhhh! I can't take it! Harb, maybe your alphabet can help us?

Probably not, since it only has English sounds plus zh/, so it would not be much better for transliteration than the regular Latin alphabet (a little better, but there are still sounds it does not have). If you want something that can really represent a lot of different sounds from many different languages, then you might want to go with the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). But with 107 letters, 52 diacritics, and 4 prosodic marks, it's pretty complex. But it can represent any known sound from any language.

Us inventing an alphabet like that ourselves would be an enormous and very time consuming endeavor with a lot of research involved, so we should probably use an existing alphabet. Alternately, if we don't want to use the IPA, we could invent something of a conglomeration alphabet, comprised of different letters from different alphabets combined. Or I could try to create an appropriate system of diacritics for my writing system, and maybe it would work after all.

"Женя" is pronounced like "Zhenja"

I'm not sure if that is the best transliteration, since j has more than one sound. I think here it would work with the soft j sound, but it might be better to use y ("Zhenya").

No, that name does not really have that sound, that is just how it is approximated when transliterated into Russian. Russian does not have the appropriate sound for 'J', so it is approximated by ДЖ, which sounds nearly the same but is slightly different.

Щ щ - soft "sh" (can't figure out how to trasliterate it)

I've seen this one transliterated mainly as 'sjtsj' in Dutch, which would correspond to 'shch' in English. No idea if that's right though or if the booklet I thought myself the Cyrillic alphabet from a few years ago was wrong, though.

Isn't Pokemon (and similar franchises) basically like illegal animal fighting? Why haven't they been banned yet?

Think about it! You capture wild animals and train them to fight each other! Did this ever raise any red flags for anyone?
