| Quote (Donatelo200) Your not alone here..... Unfortunately for me i'm in a catholic family who wont stop flipping playing it. (i am an atheist by the way)
My school thinks they should play this between periods in addition to playing it full blast during gym. And then they ask me why I am constantly irritable (irritable is code for will chew your head off and feed the person next to you your organs).

| I'm not sure what that is, but it is most certainly not Star Trek.

"It's not your father's Star Trek; it's his dimwitted punk son's ripoff of it." - internet reviewer whose name I can't remember.
I didn't really like the Trek XI; it was an okay, pretty fun movie to watch once, but it didn't have much appeal to me beyond that. I would rate it among the ranks of Insurrection and Generations as a pretty mediocre typical odd-numbered Trek movie.

I would rate it among the ranks of Insurrection and Generations as a pretty mediocre typical odd-numbered Trek movie. In general Trek has really proved that it's not really fit for the movies. But I'd watch Insurrection and Generations over XI anyday. I'd even watch The Final Frontier over XI (though that's a tough choice). This new one though looks like it has about as much of the essence of Star Trek as Enterprise did during the worst times. In other words, nearly none. It's a modern effects-laden, dramatic, uninspired action movie, borrowing some Star Trek labels and names. The similarity is skin deep only.

| I disagree that Enterprise has got little of the essence of Star Trek; it has a different format from original Star Trek, yes, but I would say that's a good thing. My two favourite Star Trek series, Deep Space Nine and Enterprise, are my favourites partly because they diverge from the normal Star Trek format with their character development, story arcs, darker atmosphere, more conflict between characters, and more realistic view of the future (while remaining quite pleasantly optimistic). Despite this, I would argue DS9 and Enterprise both still have the essence of Star Trek.
However, I definitely agree Trek XI doesn't have that. It really is little more than an uninspired action movie.

| I wholly agree that DS9 is truly Star Trek, and in fact it is my favorite Trek series. But Enterprise was nothing like that. The characters were uninspired, the acting was lackluster, the plot was questionable, and the writing was mediocre at best. By every criteria except for special effects it is the worst Trek show ever made, and I refuse to acknowledge its existence.

| Well, I love it myself. The characters may not have been the most original ones, but they went through some great development in seasons 3 and 4. Its first two seasons contained an unfortunate amount of duds, but its last two seasons easily made up for that in my eyes, being some of the best seasons of Trek.

| It's amazing that 3 hours of practice can take me from stick figures to making these in 30 minutes:
EDIT: My face isn't generally that scrunched up, I was holding the phone against my ear.

| Tonight's Geminid meteor shower was the best one I've seen since I was a kid! There were a lot of them, especially a lot of bright ones! I probably saw at least 15 brighter than mag. 1, maybe four or five brighter than Sirius, and I even saw one that was probably -5 magnitude (brighter than Venus)! And I was only watching for two hours. It was great! Anyone who can should get out and watch.
