| We need more females! (Said in context, no one quote that without this part.) We could show SE to Tricia Helfer. If anyone happens to know her.

| Quote (Disasterpiece) We could show SE to Tricia Helfer. If anyone happens to know her. That's ok... (I'm not the biggest Tricia Helfer fan)
Felicia Day would be a better choice though if you want to go the celebrity route.

| A little bit of nostalgia that I dug up: my forum userbox and signature at 100 posts It took me 5 months to get to 100 posts. I thought it was quite an accomplishment at the time

| I looked at Apple's latest macbook offerings, I was just curious because it's been a while since I ever looked. The only models that have a discrete graphics card alongside the Intel HD 4000 graphics are the 15 inch models: a Nvidia GT 650M, with up to 1GB of VRAM. The cheapest model is $1800 (512MB VRAM).
My 11" laptop was over $600 less (b-day present btw) and I have the same graphics card (and integrated graphics), but with four times the VRAM and RAM, a 750GB 7200RPM hdd (vs the macbooks 500GB 5400), and a slightly faster processor.
This, my fellow Space-enginauts(???) is one of the reasons I switched back from using Macs. You will always find a much, much better deal for a PC- and you'll end up with a good computer too. | Quote (HarbingerDawn) And I could probably build a desktop machine with those same specs for 2/3 to 3/4 of that price. This is why I switched to building my own computers (that, and it's a load of fun). I also build. Price and getting what I want, nothing less and nothing more, is one, er two, things, but I also like to know what's inside the PC I have. It's a few years between every time I do it, and computers change and I don't even try to stay up to date on main boards, CPU's, GPU's etc, so it's nice to get a feel of the advances once in a while. The biggest revelation the last time was how ridiculously much power and total wire diameter the graphics card expects.
SE was the final drop which made me get a new desktop last year. This is what I picked: Intel i7 3770 3.5Ghz quadcore, 16GB, GeForce GTX 670 (2GB), 256 GB SSD. Seemed like the sweet spot of performance/price at the time. And I got another screen, so I have three giving me a 5760x1080 desktop area. Installed Kubuntu 12.10.
My first computer ran at 1.1 MHz and had 5 KB of memory (of which 3.5 KB were free for the user). The usable screen resolution was 176×184 pixels, and there were 8 colours. I still have it and it still worked the last time I tried it 7-8 years ago. It looked very strange on a 42" TV, though. I originally used it on a 12" TV.

I cannot do touch screens, live tiles and bad graphics accelerators (if any) on any computer. Although I understand competition with apple, I don't want computers that aren't designed to do anything more than surf the web, update facebook and watch videos. (Rant Complete)

That's a bit harsh, I think.
Personally, I like modern ui, and totally agree with the idea of content being prioritized over unnecessary UI chrome. If microsoft could replicate all the features, applications, and options from the Windows GUI into modern ui, I'd be fully behind it- at least for touchscreens.
There are plenty of tweaks to windows 8, especially classic shell, which is free, that bring back the start menu- you can even skip the start screen at log-on. Don't forget that Windows 8 is more than just apps and a start screen.
