No he didn't. You could check before saying things like that, it takes two seconds...

This probably would have fit best in the Carl Sagan thread; here it will just get buried.

That would have been a better idea! Nevermind, at least some people will get to see it before it suffocates! happy

I had posted a pictured quote there not too long ago, but not this video. smile

Re: "How do you explain a sunset if there is no God?"

Remarkably easily, via the physics of light scattering by air molecules in the atmosphere, for which the efficiency of scattering is proportional to the fourth power of the frequency. Hence, blue and violet light is quickly scattered, producing blue skies, while redder wavelengths more readily penetrate the airmass, producing the colors seen at sunset.

Notice the role of God does not appear anywhere in this explanation. It is also true that this explanation says nothing against the existence of some supreme entity. The validity of one does not impact the other. The question was framed under a false dichotomy. To resolve this problem, simply remove the last five words from the query. If one is interested in understanding sunsets, or anything else about the workings of nature, those words are never necessary. If one is instead interested in questioning the existence of God, try taking up theology instead of science.

My friend today is now officially an apple developer. He's 15 years old and he made this cool Watch_Dogs app for iOS (sorry, android users) and I'll say when it will be available on the app store. You guys will love it. I'm super proud of him for being a proper developer. Soon, he will teach me coding and I will help him develop the app further. The app is one dollar because it would look bad with ads. So if you have a spare dollar and don't know what to do with it, look into getting this app. I wish him the best of luck! biggrin biggrin

Lightning not very effective. Suggest using meteors.

(Seriously though, that's impressive.)
