| I am a musician influenced by many artists:
Rock: The Beatles Pink Floyd The Moody Blues The Who Dream Theater Nightwish Dropkick Murphys Within Temptation Peter Gabriel
Celtic: Enya Loreena McKennitt Clannadh The Chieftains
Classical: Rachmaninov Sibelius Mozart DeBuusy Beethoven Bach Mussorsky
Other: Eric Bogel Leonard Cohen Allison Krauss Vangelis Tangerine Dream Mike Oldfileld ALL forms of Blues music Scott Joplin
I love music and this list is woefully incomplete; it's merely a list of major influences. The Beatles are THE reason I am a musician. I am too young to have grown up with them, but, as a musician, I find that in rock, they pioneered so much that 42 years after they broke up, their music is still relevant today and in many ways some of it is still cutting edge.

| A piece of music I greatly enjoy is Gustav Holst's The Planets. A beautiful piece of music for each planet, some of them more fitting than others (Mars is a little too doomy, Venus oddly sweet and peaceful, Mercury's rather happy and cheery and Saturn's a bit gloomy; but on the other hand the magnificent and epic Jupiter movement, the crazy Uranus movement and the mysterious Neptune movement fit very well) since they're based on the symbolism of the planets in astrology.

Unfortunately there is no Earth movement, but personally I like Baba Yetu a lot as a "themesong" for our Earth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJiHDmyhE1A
I occasionally stream at http://www.twitch.tv/magistermystax. Sometimes SE, sometimes other games.

| One of my favorite movie themes of all time, "Hymn to Red October" was the theme to the amazing Cold War techno-spy/submarine film "The Hunt for Red October" from 1990, which was the film adaptation of the even more amazing Tom Clancy novel of the same name from 1984. The music was written by American composer Basil Poledouris. I highly recommend reading the book and watching the movie.
This video has transliterated Russian and translated English lyrics
Also, on this day (30 Nov) in 1979, Pink Floyd's famous album "The Wall" was released

| Quote (Antza2) MY EARS! It burns!!! I wasn't thinking about this kind of music when I created the topic. You cursed this topic.
Great music, HarbingerDawn.
VladVoivode, I notice we have a lot of musical tastes in common (for irish music, i refer to my first post, An Lár is one of the most epic irish bands I know.)
And here is one of my favorite piano piece :
I have learned it, and the ending wasn't a piece of cake, but after, you feel great when you play these kind of melodies.
And some waltz from the OST of one of my favorites films ever :
Want some music of mine ? Please go here !
