| Quote (Solaris) Echoes - Acoustic Version Hidden Track - David Gilmour - Live from Abbey Road I didn't notice this one before. I can't understand why Echoes is regarded so highly as a musical masterpiece, why everyone loves it so much. I find it completely uninteresting (I have not listened to this version yet). Is there something I'm missing, or maybe I have just not heard it enough (it would not be the first piece of Pink Floyd that I did not appreciate until listening to it many times)?
Quote (Solaris) King Crimson Thanks for the suggestion. I don't really like King Crimson though

| My music tastes are expansive and nebulous, listing everything I enjoy would be a lot of work so I'll just list some of my favourite things at this time. Also I really like the folky stuff in the OP, so I'll mention Saltatio Mortis here, they've done some pure folk music, but do folk rock and sometimes mix electronica with it, they also use bagpipes a lot. Stuff like fantasy/viking/folk metal/rock bands; Freedom Call, Glittertind, Tyr, Falconer Electro stuff like hardstyle, gabber, dnb, breakcore, and good old fashioned dubstep, to name but a few genres. Artists include Angerfist, Technoboy, Venetian Snares, the flashbulb, Noisia... I enjoy some Eurobeat now and then, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJzIJj6yfJg
Calming down a bit, on my list is Reggae here & here. Sea shanties (yes), but this could be bundled with folk, here. Choral stuff, like Era, and like Harbinger, Gregorian. Classical and orchestral, like Ludovico Einaudi, Johann Johannsson (if you ever saw the trailer for Battle LA then you'll have heard Johann). People have mentioned groups like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson and such. My dad was big fan of bands such as those and it's rubbed off on me quite a bit, he'd play them in the car a lot. :P I think I'm done
However, above all, I follow the artist Renard as an idol. http://www.youtube.com/user/lapfoxofficial
Here's just a few more scraps that didn't get in the post but want to share. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5PzGyvcJnA Kung Fu - Clipz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmCe3fg7B4w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qh7A8LW-NbE Doctor P - Big Boss & Tetris, respectively http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSTBFZ-To2E The Prodigy - Charly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYAFIZsPEFM Peter Bradley Adams - Song For Viola
And various other artists, bands, and genres.

| Quote (HarbingerDawn) "old fashioned" and "dubstep" - two terms that I never thought I would see together Heh, well, what I meant was the more old school style of dubstep, rather than the newer, Brostep stuff that came from Skrillex and such.

| Uh. I hate dubstep. I like to have a melody in the music i'm listening. Also i can't stand music isn't played by instruments, but is generated on a computer. There are a few exceptions, like Daft Punk, which can be rather good at times.
I have never been a fan of music, that is to be played on huge speakers with lots of volume. Decibels don't make the music sound better, it just makes my ears hurt.

| Speaking of Daft Punk, a bit offtop, but has anybody seen their film "Electroma"? It was unexpectedly impressive and touching piece of art for me. http://vimeo.com/7383499

| I was actually in a couple of bands for a bit of fun for a while. Had a ball being with friends and making decent covers of songs and have people getting up and dancing to the music you are playing was a rush really.
Oddly enough we called ourselves "Roswell" and ran with the alien theme a fair bit. Had a blast with those guys. We are having a bit of a break at the moment but hope to start up again soon.
My personal preferences though are: Linkin Park (all of their music, new and old), Staind, Sevendust, Disturbed, Bush, Green day, Tool, Foo Fighters, Chilli Peppers. There are just so many that I like and we played covers of most of them.
Could give you a link to see our version of some Green day and Blink 182 if you like.

| Thank you everybody for making me discovering all this good music !
CyberItalian, I like the rockets !
Quote (Aerospacefag) Hybrid (british band) Paul Oakenfold. These are some pretty good electro bands.
Quote (Blu3sman) Here's full latest album that I definitely recommend to listen, quite unusual sound : Maybe unusual, but awersome for me !
Quote (Thurs) Okay I'm one of the few on the forums who likes nothing better than to mosh around with a bunch of other sweaty long hair dudes while I destroy my hearing on overworked speakers in some small converted-warehouse bare concrete venue. If you like metal bands, you can hear to : ♦ Finntroll : Trollhammaren ♦ Cannibal Corpse : Hammer Smashed Face (quite violent metal band.) ♦ Psykup : La Peur du Vide
Quote (Solaris) Django Reinhardt & Stéphane Grappelli - Minor Swing In my opinion, one of the most epic Gypsy Jazz piece !
This is some of my favorite electro songs :
♦ Gangpol und Mit : One of them is a musician, mixing video-game-like sounds, and the other makes the graphics of their albums and clips, with colorful, animated and geometric characters.
- Ou Wa Ou - Chinese Slavery
♦ C2C is the association of 2 DJs and 2 beatmakers, composing and mixing some epic sounds :
- Arcades - F.U.Y.A. (live)
♦ Venetian Snares is a fantastic electro DJs :
- Hajnal - Pwntendo - Integraation
Some other music :
♦ Keziah Jones was discovered in the parisian metro in the early 90s'. Now, he have invented is own music style, the blufunk, a sort of mix of funk and blues. Reggae is also in his music.
- Rythme is Love - Beautiful Emilie
♦ Solas plays a kind of traditionnal music between celtic and flamenco :
- The Wind that Shakes the Barley - Johnny's Gone for a Soldier
Want some music of mine ? Please go here !

| Quote (HarbingerDawn) I can't understand why Echoes is regarded so highly as a musical masterpiece, why everyone loves it so much. You are the 1rst Pinkfloyd lover I know who don't like Echoes I don't know why everybody love it, taste you know.. Maybe the main melody, the atmosphere, the solos, the different phases who procure different feelings, many more.. It's a masterpeace to my eyes, but also, I prefer Atome Earth Mother rather than echoes
Quote (HarbingerDawn) "old fashioned" and "dubstep" - two terms that I never thought I would see together Quote (Antza2) Decibels don't make the music sound better, it just makes my ears hurt. I completely agree..

| ♦ Astor Piazzolla's Oblivión is one of the Tango's masterpiece :
♦ EZ3kiel are evolving within their album, from a simple electro style to a more complex and elaborate synphonic music. They have a magnificent website, and they are playing with instrument samples, electronic effects and ambiance noises.
- Naphtaline - Premier Flocon - 3 Rue Montplaisir
♦ Michel Korb is the writer of the music of the shorts films of Jérôme Boulbès. In this one, the music is particularly beautiful (and the film itsels too).
Here is a song I wrote myself, called Damayale Stories :
