| Yesterday Jupiter in 16" MEADE and EOS 500D. Taken 31 march nearly 16:56 UTC. Sum of 3000 frames. Left to right: Jupiter, Io, Ganymede. Europa is on Jupiter's disk right to Great Red Spot, however, I cannot be seen here. Sky conditions was not perfect, maybe next time image would be better.

| Anyone staying up for some nice shots of the lunar eclipse?
Over here the Moon is totally eclipsed by Earth...
ADDED: Does anyone know if Chang'e/Yutu will observe the solar eclipse from their viewpoint? That could produce some interesting imagery.

| I saw half of it before the clouds rolled in. Clouds ruined the best part.

| Pretty poor compared to some of your efforts, guys, but here's the best image of Saturn I've ever photographed.
Done through the eyepiece (Orion XT8 -> 3X Barlow->Sony Xperia T smartphone->Photoshop), in Ireland, 24-04-14 02:57gmt
The wind jostled the scope as I took the picture, causing the double image, but it seemed to help, compared to other photos on the same night, by splitting the brightness and reducing the glare that was obscuring the details.
I recombined it in photoshop, tried to reverse the motion blur, and adjusted the colour channels to reduce the chromatic aberration. The right-hand image was an attempt to bring out further detail by sharpening further, but I don't think it worked out.
Nevertheless, there is a hint of the Cassini Division around the edge of the rings - that makes me very happy, as I couldn't actually make it out with my eye on the night.

| Can anyone recommend some starter equipment for getting started in astrophotography? I have been looking at this thread forever, and now I want to be able to post here. Also, my (cheap and crappy) telescope broke recently, so some telescope recommendations would be nice.

| Quote Disasterpiece ( ) Can anyone recommend some starter equipment for getting started in astrophotography? It depends on what you want to do. If you want to take the kind of pictures that Antza and I take (wide-field images), then you need a DSLR and a tripod. If you want to take telescopic images, then you need a telescope and photographic equipment to go with it. I could give input on DSLRs, but not on other things.

| Down here in Cornwall we don't get many clear nights, but when we do they can be beautiful!
This is the 'Cheesewring' up on Bodmin Moor.
And this one is a Moon Halo.
I tried recreating 'Starry Night' by Van Gogh.

| Quote anonymousgamer ( ) Still, I thought I would share. Not in this thread, this is for your own work. Move it to the aurora thread.
