My best shot of the LADEE launch! It covers from the midpoint of the 3rd stage burn through 3rd stage burnout.

60 second exposure at ISO 400

EDIT: Another shot, same settings (as for why everything looks messed up, see the link...)

That's awesome, Harbinger! I love that you can see the rocket plume in the first shot.

I only got one shot of the launch, (covering stages 1 and 2), since torn between resetting the exposure and watching it with my own eyes through binoculars, I chose the latter. happy It was really a fantastic sight.

A nice red moon just set. Unfortunately it disappeared behind clouds before I got exposure times correct.

Very fast fireball last night, only visible in a single 1/3" frame of the video and bright enough to be seen through a thin layer of clouds.

Sounds like it must have been of cometary origin to be that fast. Is that consistent with standard meteor shower fireballs?

The path and speed are consistent with the September epsilon Perseids of unknown origin. But it could be anything. Also actual speed is hard to determine from only one point of view, since it greatly depends on perspective and distance which you don't know.

EDIT: The Spaceweather link didn't work well. You have to look up 11th September to find the article that I tried to refer to.

Apparently I am ignorant of attachments and how they work

Your picture has to be less than 600 kB. However, it is very preferable to use external image hosting (imgur, etc) rather than uploading to the forum.

There's more information on the subject here: http://en.spaceengine.org/forum/10-444-1

Picture of my favourite constellation Cassiopeia. Please excuse the tree and the heavy light pollution.
