I too photographed that same region of sky just before the nova occurred, on Aug 11/12 and 12/13, but I haven't processed all of the pictures yet. When I finish I'll post pictures and a video link to the timelapse. Next chance I get I'll do another timelapse with the nova in it

| Keep posting pictures, Harb & Wats.
The nova seems to have peaked at ~4.3 and then stabilised slightly brighter than 5.

| Can't wait to see how Harb's time-lapses turn out. I'm just watching and waiting on the weather now; been in a cloudy pattern ever since the nova went off so I'm lucky to get a moment of visibility here and there. Moonlight's starting to interfere a bit also, but at least the nova is still pretty bright.
How is it from Norway, have you been able to see it yet?

The first night I only got a small number of shots, and the second night 1000 of my 1300 shots were ruined by condensation on my lens  So not that great. But I'll post it anyway, and I did get some nice tidbits in there, including a few nice Perseids, which I'll post as still images.

| I've mostly had fog and rain. But according to my weather station, we've had 1.9 hours of clear night skies since the discovery, and then I'm counting hours when the sun is below 12 degrees + 50% of the time when the sun is between 6 and 12 degrees which may be a stretch for a 5th magnitude object, so perhaps there have been openings of one hour in all to see it. And since this is only after 23:00 (the sun doesn't yet reach 18 degrees) and I have to get up at 06:00 in the mornings, no, I haven't been up looking for clouds to break up. Not even my father have seen it, who's spent countless nights for 50 years devoted to observing variable stars. But this has received such attention, there are hundreds if not thousands of magnitude observations, so it's not a big loss. I suppose he'll follow it more closely when most others lose interest.
Tonight is looking promising, though. I will probably be able to see it from around 23:30, but it will be above the lights of entire Oslo from my position. And I have a cold, so let's say it's a 90% chance that I choose bed instead.Added (18.08.2013, 23:26)

Thousand Oaks sell heater bands which help, but it's probably easy to make something similar cheaper oneself.

| Thanks. I didn't look, though there were possibilities. The all night exposure from one of my webcams looks almost dramatic:
The moon is becoming bright. The small dots are noise. These exposures are made by going through a video of the whole night then pick the brightest pixel in every position. Thousand Oaks have some nice solar filters.

| Dramatic, indeed! Does that processing technique help with picking out meteors? It looks like there's one or two in the frame, though I can't tell if they're planes or satellite flares instead.
I got a clear sky tonight so here's the current view of the nova; still looks to be at about magnitude 5 and comparable to Eta and Iota Delphini. The effect of the full moon is really amazing.

Yes, these exposures allow me to check for meteors at a glance. Sometimes they can get lost in air traffic, though.
What you see to the upper right is an airplane. There's also something a bit to the left of the centre. It looks a satellite flash, but when I look at the video, it's clear that it is a meteor: http://voksenlia.net/cam3/2013/20130818/wide-20130818223439.mp4
