With mere hours to go, AsiaSat 6 Launch scrubbed indefinitely!
No real reason given for the scrub, aside from "Checking the rocket over thoroughly", although it is known that the order came directly from Elon Musk, initially via in-company e-mail to SpaceX staff.
Rumours and conjecture abound as to why, with the two leading candidates being:
1) That Musk has jitters about launching so soon after the F9r Dev1 in-flight auto-destruct, and wants to fully investigate that before launching any similar vehicles.
2) That NASA has given SpaceX two days' notice (as they have said they would) of having reached a decision on the Commercial Crew transportation Program. SpaceX won't know yet whether they've been selected - but the (ropey) logic of the rumour assumes that they don't want to have the rocket encounter any problems that may cast aspersions on SpaceX's technical abilities and spur any last-minute change of mind on NASA's part.
The second one sounds a little ridiculous to me, but those are the ones that lead the pack in terms of credibility.
EDIT: Statement from Mr.Musk now available.
It seems they want to shore up their flight software in the aftermath of the F9r Dev1 incident. No direct link is suspected, as the flight-rocket has more redundancies than the test rocket, but they seemingly want to run through the failure modes for the umpteenth time!
There is some insight into the F9r Dev1 incident - reference to a "blocked sensor port" being responsible.
AsiaSat 6 will be delayed by one or two weeks, thanks to this process.

| I wonder whether he's more interested in avoiding a potential mishap, or in demonstrating SpaceX's commitment to safety and reliability, and giving some more public insight into the process in the wake of the F9R-gone-firework event.

| BlueDrache, there's a thread called "NewSpace" which is where you should post on topics relating to the new commercial Space industry in general, or pertaining to organisations that don't have their own threads yet.
To be fair to you, the titles of that and the government thread (which I see HD has also corrected you on) are a little niche - and they're not even in the same fora, which is perhaps something to be looked at - but this here is a SpaceX thread - specifically a SpaceX missions thread - and Spaceship Two is a Virgin Galactic spaceplane, which has nothing to do with SpaceX.
laiod, that story has borderline relevancy in this thread, but it does talk about how SpaceX's missions influence its future, and is really interesting. Also, I think limiting this thread to missions is perhaps a little narrow - everything about SpaceX is interesting, from missions, to business, to politics, to vision, and R&D.
Lumping everything else about SpaceX into the Newspace thread and leaving this thread to munch on the missions only feels like a disservice to both aspects, but that's just me, and I'm not a moderator.

Originally everything was in Newspace, but half of the posts there, starting around the time of SpaceX CRS-1, ended up being SpaceX mission updates and discussions related to ongoing/upcoming/recently completed missions. So I split those posts off into this thread. But yes, it should be made more explicit what each thread is about, and where to post other similar-sounding content. I'll work on that now.
