| I love the image from Viking; is probably one of my favorites from the surface of Mars. I've seen it before in a book ages ago, but I don't think the resolution or color were that good. Thanks for posting these!

| Moved the post to the curiosity thread, also included Harbs response below. Moved back since Harb said I didn't actually need to move it.

At the end, it says that none of the team said anything about earthshattering or anything like that Still, to have it be 'top secret' like this means that they want to be really sure that they are seeing what they think they are seeing before they make it public and that they think it's something big.

Curiosity has its own thread, as is mentioned in the OP. From now on post Curiosity stuff there.
And there is no sense in speculating further about it. Everything that can be discussed about it already has been. The reason they are waiting to announce it might be because it is very important, but also because it takes time to confirm the data. They need to analyze multiple samples and interpret the results and that takes a lot of time. If they announce something before properly confirming it - like they almost did with methane earlier in the mission - then it might turn out to be wrong and that would be pretty embarrassing.

I was just putting it out there, and yeah, like I was saying, they want to be sure that the discovery is what it is and interpreted properly before they announce it publically. I just kind of said that in a shorter way.

| I just read that europe are increasing funding for the ESA, and that maybe Curiosity just found some organic molecules on Mars, and NASA is working to warp drive! I know that for now we can't build a working warp drive, and i'm not sure it's realy possible, even if we was hyperadvanced, BUT what I mean is that the in near future we will understand how much exploration of space is important, so maybe in future we will realy reach mars, and, who knows, maybe even the first exoplanet, i know that maybe i'm delirious (and I don't know how many "maybe" i used), but some of my hopes, now, are becoming clearer

Salvo, threads for discussions like this already exist. Put some effort into finding a relevant thread before creating a new one. Also, try not to be rambling and incoherent. Use proper language skills.
Opportunity has discovered nothing of the sort, you are thinking of Curiosity. And we don't know what it discovered yet, if anything. That will be announced within the next couple of weeks. Warp drive is possible as far as we know, but I have not heard of NASA putting any serious effort into it, though some people are.
Please do not create a new thread for this kind of thing in the future. There is a thread for government human spaceflight, there is a thread for Mars discoveries, there is a thread for Curiosity, there is a thread for space propulsion systems, there is a thread for other stuff related to this new era of spaceflight. There are threads all over the forum for you to choose from. Use them.

Sorry, i was over-excited
The topic wasn't about just the discoveries, because, for example, the article about warp drive was written in september, my idea was to talk about the future of humanity and the changes of last years, maybe i made i mistake posting it into Science and Astronomy Discussions, and i didn't knew this post, if i knew it, i would have posted here
