| I am awestruck. Never before have I seen an image this remarkable of a gas giant planet.
This image is a closeup of Saturn's north pole. The total width of the image is in the area of 3000 kilometers or so. So each of the cloud-like structures visible there is really an entire storm system. This image was taken by the Cassini spacecraft today. Just hours ago, this image was captured, and transmitted halfway across the Solar system to Earth, decoded, and uploaded to the internet for all of humanity to see.
For context, this next image is a wide angle shot of the same location. The location of the previous image is the small circle in the center.

| Marvelous..The gas giant clouds have always fascinated me, these new pictures of Saturn’s north pole are absolutly epics
Blury but RGB image :
Hopefully the cassini's new orbital trajectory (which is taking it high above the ring plane and poles of Saturn) will give us more great images like those

Titan occulting a binary star system (named NV0435215+200905)
It's crazy to see the light being refracted by Titan's dense atmosphere.

| ^Not that much: their separation is only a bit more than Titan's disc. Since Titan is 0.8 arcseconds at best, let's say they're separated by 1 arcsecond. That would make their separation similar to Neptune's distance to the Sun at about 100 light years. If it's closer than that, it could be at only a billion km between them. So unless they're very far away, I'd guess their distance is pretty medium.
