Hey, I want to know...
Is your game still in developpement ? Are you still supporting it, and are you planning on continuing it in the future ?

I'm asking, because I've just discovered this program ( thanks to Kurtjmac on Youtube ) and I must say... Even though I'm a gamer, and even though it's not a video game, Space Engine is the most exciting and deep experiences a software has ever brought to me. It's simply, but awesomely, awesome.
You just go on youtube, start a good old space background music, launch Space Engine and just wander around the universe like any human secretly dreams to...

I, deeply, thank you for this. And I REALLY hope Space Engine will continue to be developped for ever and expand.
( Because this is the software that comes closest to what I think would be THE ultimate video game/experience or whatever you call it : a universe simulator where you can travel, land on a planet, wander around by foot in first-person view, settle down, explore the fantastic and mysterious landscape, and just take-off for another planet. )

So, Vladimir Romanuk, if this is your name, thank you. Space Engine should have a lot more plublicity.

( sorry for my english, I'm from France, but you get the message ! smile )

Hi there SpaceEngineer, excellent sim by the way! Looking forward to the new version coming up soon this summer.
I was wondering though, will any of it allow the tracking of real space probes and orbiting satellites and allow for the tracking elements to be updated for real time tracking? Also any possible way of having an option that will allow a view kind of like Orbitron where you can track satellites from Earth or Mars etc.

Looking forward to your reply.
Kind regards
Brad

Aquriusone, custom trajectories for space probes are not supported, and even rendering of spacecraft is still in developement. I work on fully controlled spaceships, so you can fly them yourself in future versions.

Hi SpaceEngineer,

As you've undoubtedly heard 1000 times before, I really enjoy this game/simulator! However, I read (I think on a different forum) that you are planning on open sourcing this game/sim. Is this true?

Again, thank you!

No, where did you read this?

I eliminated Celestia's code a long time ago.

Thanks for the answer!

Last question: You mention that the universe won't span to infinity because infinity is too hard to do on a computer. Completely understandable.

Do you know (or have a guess) as to what size the universe will be limited to?

Universe will be closed on itself, so you cannot run out. The length of the "trip around the world" will be several hundreds of billions of years.

Could not see this on the list. "Strange" orbits possible? Like Cruithne's orbit for instance.

The possibility of planets being slung out of orbit and into space to then "die" out etc?

I'm not sure about these. I doubt that planets being slung out of orbit will be implemented, but it's not impossible. If it does happen it will be added much later though.

Yeah, of course there are more "pressing" matters. I know myself well enough that if I don't write them down I will wake up tomorrow having forgotten all about it tongue
