I think he meant single-player gameplay. To which the answer is also almost certainly yes.

SpaceEngine will be a single software, where in the main menu you may choose:

  • Planetarium
  • Single player
  • Multiplayer

However Planetarium may be made as a stand-alone program. The cause of making it single program is sharing the resources (10+ Gb textures, etc).

Despite having basically no money I'm giving $15, a small amount really for now but it's all I can do, I think this project is the most exciting game/sandbox project I might have ever seen and the potential is just huge. I'd even consider (somehow?) getting or making myself some sort of home-dome in which to project and modifying a projector or some old projectors. I don't know! I just want to be completely immersed in this universe! I can't wait to see the atmosphere development after the $15000, 3d clouds and when we can see the chemical composition of the world, this just blows me away. Thank you Space Engineer for all your incredible work! I've been lurking around the forums a bit recently but no had a chance to get properly involved but I'd like to as I have some ideas I'd like to share too so you'll probably see a more of me in the future! I think it's also really great how people can contribute their ideas and space engineer actually listens and frequently implements these thoughts and other's work, so kudos to that system and also to all of those who have contributed the great ideas and corrections already! biggrin

You can't use Kickstarter for projects based in Russia. Anyway, an Indiegogo campaign is and has been planned.

Lets hope every week goes this well or better. If it does then you'll be fully funded in less than half a year happy

Perhaps you could use some of the donations to get Space Engine on Greenlight for Steam? I have no doubts it would get Greenlit considering how many people play and how many use Steam.

The funding page has been given a major overhaul. Check it out

Good! I must say that Vladimir is an extremely modest person if he does SE full-time for 12 months for $15,000. And I wonder where on the list my atmospheric optics wishlist can fit in. smile

SE will hopefully evolve into a commercial version. I wonder, is there a plan to attract investors at some point? While this means larger sums (if it is to be worthwhile), it would also mean less freedom for Vladimir, since investors unlike donators would like to have their investments and more back sometime.

Now that money is starting to flow, are there tax issues for Vladimir? Considering the vast amount of hours that he's put into this, it's clearly far from a profitable project even if many of the funding goals are met, so tax should be avoidable. I'm just thinking that now when money enters the scene he must be careful to document the expenses including work hours to prevent that a significant part of what we donate ends up in the pocket of the tax collector just because the paperwork wasn't done properly. I've no clue how this works in Russia, though.

I hope that doesn't mean it will no longer be free software?

I will be inactive on this forum for the time being. Might come back eventually
