You can use Paint.NET.
I found this that could be used to earth the past. Disadvantage: we can see the borders of countries and it does not bump map.

JackDole, it can affect you with your mod I see of Pangaea. But you took where these textures, the source, I know you took Kexitt but the first source of origin ?

| Is there a way that any of you can use a galaxy texture I make from scratch with a black background?
I'm not sure what's defined as an alpha channel here..I don't use photoshop or gimp, I use krita, if anyone knows how to use that to make usable galaxies or nebulae.
Living among the stars, I find my way. I grow in strength through knowledge of the space I occupy, until I become the ruler of my own interstellar empire of sorts. Though The world was made for the day, I was made for the night, and thus, the universe itself is within my destiny.

Yep. the sys texture always has a black background, and the png textures use some special way of transparifying it.

Neither do I. I use photoshop, and I can't really understand the tutorial. I consider myself a noob overall.

I could probably understand if I knew how to separate channels...I'll look it up and maybe I'll find something.
The thing is is that I have a galaxy right now that I want to be able to take and since I'm drawing it from scratch, take the brown out of before I even put it in, so that I can use it for the alpha channel

Occasionally it is possible that people have something else to do than to create things for SpaceEngine.

The galaxies are called Maaen and Casgelu, together they are called Maaen'Casgelu.
