I just moved outside of the SE cube and turned the magnitude limit up, we will never understand how big the universe is.

That's a bad idea.

He'll be fine and have something to do everyday for the rest of his life.

I'm just wondering how large SE actually is

At present, I'd estimate (very roughly) that there are around 1025 objects in SE. This number is probably correct to within two orders of magnitude, and is probably too low. But that's basically a guess.

Do you know what the name of the galaxy that is 8.66 billion parsecs away? Thanks!

One such galaxy is RG 0-9-0-98, 8.659 gigaparsecs from the Milky Way, at "Universal Coordinates" (visible from Debug Mode) X 4.999 Gpc; Y 5.000 Gpc; z 4.999 Gpc.
Maybe later I can nail down some of the other corner galaxies.....

Galaxy is type S0 and SE version is .962

A lot of the catalog galaxies are close to each other, just like they are in real life, but why are none of the randomly generated galaxies close to each other, like Andromeda and M32? It would be realistic, plus it could be used for some cool screenshots!

One thing I've wanted to ask SpaceEngineer are planets different in every galaxy? Or are all the planets in all the galaxies virtually the same?

If so it would be neat to have a very minute feature of planets procedurally generated differently in every single galaxy. Perhaps there is some way planets in real life are different in every galaxy due to how every galaxy is created in not exactly the same way and they all look very unique.

Also, artifacts would give the game a lot more replay-ability at least in this state and for much longer until game-play is introduced. Just a tiny randomly generated simple artifact on a very small number of planets, maybe only on planets with life. Would be a lot of fun finding different ones while exploring. cool

Every planet is different, at least I doubt that you'd ever find two identical worlds, but they all follow the same rules. So you'll see similar worlds in every galaxy. In reality it's probably the same way, you'll likely find a similar variety of worlds in most galaxies.

How come that all SE users has the same randomly generated space objects rather than each users will have a unique generated universe? This makes me wonder that SE has a preconfigured file that controls the generation of the objects

Because everyone's version of SE has the same starting conditions and the same mathematical algorithms computing the generation of objects. If everyone has the same input, and everyone has the same equations, then everyone gets the same output.

if they implemented the ability to make a new seed with the procedural database, it would be chaos and difficult to share. This way i think everyone is on the same page.
