More experimenting with image stiching software....

The landing area:

360 degree panorama from the surface. See if you can spot the camera location from the landing area image.

These are great Phoenix. What software did you use to make the panorama?

In the top picture, it's on the right wall of the small crater that's in the big one.

I use a freeware stitching software called "Hugin". As with any panorama, the trick is to keep your camera level.

This is challenging because there is no keyboard control to rotate about a center as far as I can tell. Only with the mouse.
Here in this image I am not level. Because SE is so good at planet landscapes, there are endless possibilities.

Do you mean pivot the camera in place, or orbit the camera around a point? For the former, you can use the 4 and 6 numpad keys for horizontal rotation. For the latter there are ways of setting it up depending on what you're doing in a given situation.

Phoenix, that is awesome. smile
I regularly use Hugin to make panoramic landscape photos like this; absolutely love the program. Never thought to try it with Space Engine. That's a great image!

The camera should be rotated around a point at its center (ideally its sensor), to minimize parallax. I believe the 4/6 numpad keys should indeed give the proper horizontal rotation in Space Engine.

edit: Oops, correction: 4/6 will work properly only if the camera is level with the horizon (both elevation and roll angle) to begin with. Otherwise you have to adjust it manually. Hugin might be able to fix the anomalies with the level horizon option, depending on how severe they are.

SE's camera has no parallax, it is a mathematical point. To align camera with horizon, you may use 'land' command (Shift-G), then use R and F keys to adjust elevation, and then use 4 and 6 keys to rotate horizontally.

Tried that. 4 and 6 keys do a horizontal movement, not a rotation about the center axis of the camera. The only way I can do that is with a left click of the mouse, then drag the image left or right.

They do rotate the camera. Did you make sure you had Num Lock on? If it's off then I think they function as left and right arrows, which is not what you want obviously. Also, try changing them in the Controls menu (from the main menu).

For my first post, I decided to show a few nice planets I found. smile

In the galaxy NGC55, I found this sweet comfort terra with three moons caught in one view.

Oh, and this terra had life on it, but it's tidally locked.

It worked!!! Rarely if ever do I have num lock on. Now pans can be created with ease.

Why not? Without it on the Num Pad keys don't really have any unique function and therefore become entirely superfluous. You should just leave it on smile
