Hi there first post in this forum but i am longtime space engine fan..

So i have been messing around with 360° Videos lately and wanted to create something really atmospheric..

Youll have to watch it directly on youtube for the 360° to work..

While the Video below works ok i have tried numerous ways to record video in space engine and found a few ways that make the whole process much faster on high resolutions up to 4k. The only problem i have now is, that i cant quite get the footage to be super smooth on youtube.. no matter the framerate or the datarate nor the myriad of settings in main.cfg.

Anyone solved this issue yet?

@VjekoslavPuzavac : that is a really great video.
Did you use any Reshade/ Rodrigo shaders or any mod or is it just space engine RC1 and nothing more ?

Hey Inarius.

Glad you liked it. 90% of scenes are just stock 0.9.7.3 and only few scenes were recorded in 0.9.7.4 (not RC1) and no addons or shaders were used. I used lots of post-processing during editing, though. Next video will be filmed with RC1 and some addons, so keep an eye out on this forum. biggrin

Beautiful video and also the places that are the default settings and addons without altering Space Engine as ReShade ? Otherwise, how you manage to have very good quality videos ? Too bad I can not because of the record coders, I would love to make videos of my custom systems.

I don't like ReShade because I prefer to do adjustments to video in post. Only mods used are Rodrigo's and Klud's terrain mods. Regarding video quality, I can only recommend to record your videos as lossless .tga image sequence and only compress and encode at the very end when you are done with all editing. And even then don't aim for smallest file size but rather choose better quality settings because YouTube will process your file again and reduce quality a bit.

Interesting fact about Andromeda: Uncompressed project (40+ recorded scenes) took 390 GB of hard drive space but few scenes weren't used. Finished uncompressed (lossless) file was around 70 GB and encoded final product is 650 MB in size.

Hello,

I just made this video with Space Engine:

I hope to make more, I'm only starting to get use to the camera while recording.

camera while recording.

This made me think an interesting thing. Let's assume we could build the cockpit of a spaceship, and possibly we have a way to simulate zero g (otherwise, don't worry, artificial gravity would be fine), we could make a sci-fi movie using SE!

Of course to make the scenes realistic we should carefully choose the planets where to land, and we should use color correction, but it's possible.

Do any of you has particular skills as director? happy
